Chieftain Olrun Bronzefoot

Personal history

Olrun Bronzefoot took over as Chieftain for The Bronzefoot Clan after Igge Bronzefoot was killed while returning from a successful raid on Vonrepreg in year -15BU.

Olrun noticed that the Bronzefoots seemed to be stuck in a horrible cycle. Raid, rebuild, raid, rebuild, and raid. He was quite tired of this repetition and didn't exactly see the point of it anymore. He had participated in numerous raids, but he personally felt that they had become meaningless. To him, it seemed that they were just raiding and fighting just for the sake of fighting. He had grown tired of seeing his friends slain on the battlefield and the smell of blood had begun to make his stomach turn, instead of fueling that battle lust like it had in the past. He understood the reason behind it, to get revenge and to make the Bitter Daggers suffer, but to him revenge had become stale and uninteresting. The way he saw it, revenge was already had.

With this in mind, he kept the familiarity of Kidhale by having blacksmiths make weapons and armor as well as having training continue on as normal. While these were happening in Kidhale, he traveled to Cinderwick to visit and check on the village. Seeing that it was over crowded and rooms were quickly filled, he had a few more inns and taverns built to alleviate the stresses. He spent a few years in Cinderwick, just to make sure the village was functioning properly. Secretly, he didn't want to return to Kidhale but knew he had to.

So once everything was up to his standards in Cinderwick, and after he had delayed as long as possible, he returned to Kidhale. On his return, he found a fighting force that was equipped and ready to fight. He knew this was the way of the Bronzefoots, so he began to, reluctantly, plan a raid on Pinnahear. It took him a while to come up with a suitable plan, on purpose. Whispers had begun to spread that Olrun wasn't going to raid. Other's were saying that if he wasn't going to raid then they were going to challenge him for Chieftain. Olrun was aware of these whispers and after delaying as long as possible he revealed his plan for the raid. They were going to cross the northern portion of Untz River. From there they would march between Vonrepreg and Pinnahear. One party would be left behind to guard against possible reinforcements coming from Vonrepreg. The second party would move on the northeastern side of Pinnahear while the third party would circle around to the southwestern side of Pinnahear by Untz River. The fourth party would assault Pinnahear directly from the northwest. His plan was well received and was called brilliant. Pinnahear would be utterly surrounded on all side with no where to run.

With the plan in place and rehearsed, he lead the parties into Bitter Dagger territory. He hoped that this battle would be enough to satisfy the battle lust of the others so that he wouldn't have to raid again. He positioned the parties perfectly. They launched the raid in the middle of the night. It was the most successful raid in Bronzefoot history. They swarmed on Pinnahear, grabbed supplies and materials and quickly disappeared into the night. They crossed Untz River a few days north of Pinnahear and quickly moved into Blackfoot territory north of Ashen Town. They returned to Kidhale and celebrated the successful raid for an entire week.

A few months after the raid, Chieftain Nork Blackfoot, arrived in Kidhale.  He congratulated Olrun on the successful raid and spoke to him in private. Nork told Olrun of his plans to unify all of the clans. Olrun expressed that he was willing to put an end to all the fighting, but was concerned that the Bronzefoots had come to love fighting more than anything else. Nork agreed that that the Bronzefoots history is all war and nothing else, but he believed that Olrun could use his new glory to persuade the rest of the clan to agree. Olrun agreed he would speak to the clan about unifying but he requested that Nork stand at his side. Many of the Bronzefoots still had a huge amount of respect for the Blackfoots and Yiltzak Blackfoot. He wanted Nork to be there to represent that connection between the two clans.

Olrun gave his speech, followed by Nork who urged the Bronzefoots to accept the idea of Unification on behalf of Yiltzak Blackfoot. Stating that Unification is what Yiltzak Blackfoot always wanted for all Kobolds. After his speech, he left and instructed Olrun to meet with the elders. He told him to convince the elders to side with him and the others would follow suit. He told Olrun that there will surely be a small handful that will resist but they would quickly fall in line once they see they stand alone. Olrun took his advice to heart and saw Nork off.

After Nork left, Olrun met with the clan elders. They sat for days debating on whether or not to side with Nork. Olrun took offense to this and spoke firmly, "How dare you even consider standing against the Blackfoots. They are our brothers and and sisters and have stood with us through all these years. But you sit here and contemplate standing against them? Are we not allies with them? Do we not owe them everything we have? If you are even considering going against the Blackfoots, I will see you all gutted outside this tent." The elders were caught off guard by this outburst, Olrun is normally a quiet speaker never one to raise his voice. They looked over each other and then back to him, "The Bronzefoot goal is to eliminate the Bitter Daggers. Sott Bronzefoot formed this clan for that reason. We must continue on." Olrun stood up, "Revenge has been gained several times over. We have raided their villages countless times. We have acquired tons of material and supplies from them. Sott is please with our progress. Yiltzak Blackfoot has been avenged. It is time for the fighting to stop." The elders thought for a moment and then all nodded toward Olrun, "You will have our support. We will support Nork and his ambitions."

Olrun left the tent, as Chieftain, he did not need approval from the elders but now that he had it, it would make things a lot easier. He gathered the clan and informed the clan of the current plan to unify the Kobolds under one banner. The elders voiced their support of Olrun and Nork. Majority of the clan was happy to hear this. Many had felt the way that Olrun felt. That the fighting had become meaningless. There were a small few who disagreed, but they quickly fell inline as Nork predicted.

Olrun met with Nork and the other Chieftains in Ishtaden to help unify the Kobolds. Once Nork mended ties between the Bitter Daggers and the Blackfoots with Chieftain Idda Bitter Dagger, he formally apologized to Idda for all the lives lost and hardships. He extended his hand to shake with Idda and told her that he hoped the two clans could work together in the future and put an end to the violence. Idda agreed and shook his hand.
