Winterscot

In the early days of the Age of Warring the island of Wintercot, originally named Winscot, succumbed to a magical icy cold rendering most of the norther half to be engulfed with glaciers and preputial snowfields. Only the extreme southern tips of the island allow sufficient vegetation to grow. There are only a handful of villages and ports that scrap out a living along the coast, mostly relying on fishing and harvesting what little they can get to grow in the icy ground. Grains and other goods are brought in by ships from the eastern islands which they trade oils, preserved fish, and metals that are rich in the mountains.

Localized Phenomena

The entire island is engulfed in perputial snow and ice. No one is sure why this has happened, but mages who have traveled to the island know that it is some sort of magical effect. So far all attempts to nullify it have failed.
