Kuskyn Mesas
Just south of the Collared Hills lies a region of broken rock and low hills known as the Kuskyn Mesas. Isolated, flat-topped elevations, bounded on all sides by steep escarpments, stand dotted around the surrounding hills like stony fingers reaching from the broken ground.
Some of the mesas stand several hundred feet tall, and the largest of these are found closest to the Balnoque Spine, which towers above the area.
The climate here is chill, but dry, giving the place an arid, almost desert-like appearance. The ground frosts over at night, the ice glinting in the moonlight lending an eerie glow.
Sages and philosophers agree that this area was once rife with lush rivers that carved these strange shapes into the stone towers that now abide here. The Deep Beck is the only river left now, and it runs deep within a long crevasse that begins in the middle of the mesas.
On the south-eastern edge of the mesas sits Kuskyn Henge, a strange remnant to some forgotten religion.
The mesas are rumoured to be home to warring bands of gnolls and strange lizard-like creatures, as well as the feared "land-shark".
