Kuskyn Henge

Kuskyn Henge is a mystery.   This circle of standing stones, obviously the work of intelligent hands, has stood here at the south-eastern edge of the Kuskyn Mesas for as long as anyone can remember. None know who built it or for what reason.   Several other small ancient monuments have been found in the same region, suggesting that some ancient race may have lived here many years ago. Who that may be however remains a mystery - scholars agree that the stones bear no resemblance to the ancient ruins of the Antediluvians that can be found elsewhere.   Kuskyn Henge consists of a stone circle of thirteen stones with a monolith near the middle. Five rows of standing stones connect to this circle. Two long rows of stones running almost parallel to each other from the stone circle to the north-northeast form a kind of avenue. In addition, there are shorter rows of stones to the west-southwest, south and east-northeast.   The stones are all of the same rock type, namely a type of granite found specifically in the Barren Wastes on the far side of the Balnoque Spine. How this rock was brought here across the mountains is yet another unexplained aspect of the Henge.   The central monolith stands 3 feet west of the true centre of the stone circle. The stone is feet high, 5 feet wide and 1 foot thick. The largest sides of the stone are almost perfectly oriented to the north and south. The monolith has the shape of a ship's rudder and probably weighs about 14,000 lbs (7 tonnes).
