Eastern Trade Company

Overview

Lead by Patriarch Quintex Whiteshore, the Eastern Trade Company is a collection of the houses that control land along eastern coast where many trade ships come and go. Quintex was chosen to be leader due to the large influx of trade he's kept in the region. His large navy and trade flotilla helping to sweeten the deal as well. With nothing but an expanse of sea to the east, and control of the rivers running inland, the Eastern Trade Company has significant impact on the inland supply line from outside of The River Kingdoms region. They try to keep at least peaceful enough relations with their neighbors so that they can benefit from keeping trade routes open. However, Zenithyr to the north seems to be attempting to strain that relationship. While the Eastern Trade Company boasts by far the largest and most capable navy, and a good amount of marines to accompany them, they lack a traditional standing force that can compete with those west of them.

Foreign Relations

While Patriarch Quintex Whiteshore does his best to be at least compromising with the other factions as he is attempting to show that the true path to wealth lies with him, unfortunately some of his neighbors have other plans for him. While is attempting to show that he is the arbiter of all the trade entering and leaving The River Kingdoms, others do not take so kindly to it. Besides that, Quintex knows he lacks the military forces to push west. While has has access to the largest and strongest navy there is and some of the best marines as well, those assets serve him little good in a field battle against his opponents for the crown.   Perhaps one of the biggest threats to the Eastern Trade Company is Zenithyr, Matriarch Griselda de Valen is attempting constant border skirmishes with Quintex in order prob his defenses and Quintex is responding in kind. Of course, a lack of outright combat has spared Quintex from embarrassment but he is attempting to show more force than he really has in order to hopefully stave off a full scale invasion. Luckily, the warships can be used in case of a port siege.   On the other hand, while cautious and attempting to slowly siphon trade power away from them, there is a level of peace between the Eastern Trade Company and Venithyr as both acknowledge that presently the trade routes require them both to cooperate. There is still some minor skirmishing, usually between more fanatic supporters of each faction at the borders, but nothing significant enough to break their tenuous peace.   To the south, there is a healthy relationship with The Mithril Hills. Volnus has been exceptionally receptive to Patriarch Quintex Whiteshore's brokering and trade agreements. Offering up pristine dwarven goods in exchange for reasonable prices. This has lead to the border, while patrolled, is not as reinforced as the others as they have a level of mutual trust with each other.   Perhaps for the worse, despite their distance and inability to fight, Quintex and Xanthia are at odds, they both know that they will not gain the support of the other and often express open disdain for each other. Especially given Quintex is a far more pragmatic man and Xanthia is more of an idealist in his eyes. This has caused a lot of tension between the two that might boil into open conflict had the Eastern Trade Company shared a border with The Kingseekers.
