Ibaza
Ibaza is one of the oldest cities in Turath, stretching back to the 3rd century of the empire. Despite its age , though, is has grown little over that time. Initially colonized by the Turath as a patrician retreat, Ibaza has become the capital of the small nation of Milon, nominally part of the Petty Kingdoms.
In actuality, Milon serves as a hub for lords and elites from across the world to mingle in both business and pleasure away from the prying eyes of rivals and common rabble. Ibaza is host to many extravagant luxuries, and almost anything for sale (and many things that are not) can be found here. Despite it’s decadence, Ibaza displays a luxurious and pristine appearance, and many of the local nobility take great pains to protect the propriety and reputation of the city and surround lands.
At a more practical level, Ibaza is often at the heart of much of the international intrigue and diplomacy between leaders of state and their envoys. Considered neutral ground, Ibaza has little value outside the vices and minor trade that moves through its harbors. As such, it can attract courtiers and informants from all nations, providing a single place for spies to gather information on their rivals.
Agents of foreign powers are given license to act indiscriminately, provided they don’t disturb the tranquility of daily life, nor interrupt the local elite’s position. It is unsurprising, then, that Ibaza’s reputation is one of many faces, and became known as the 'City of Masques'.
