Personal history

Aien is ancient, having already become a wyrm long before the reappearance of dragons during the 2020s. With his large size quickly came territory and power, as many dragons were not willing to challenge him directly, giving him a position in which he could easily sway other dragons under his control. With a deep hatred for humanity and viewing them as lesser, he began a campaign to conquer their lands and eradicate those he was unable to subjugate in order to cement himself and his bloodline at the top of the newly developing power structure in the world. Even among other dragons, Aien quickly became one that was deeply hated for these views and his even more cruel methods. Although many other flights also held a disdain for human kind, few were as aggressive as he was and were declared his enemy to learn that his methods of eradicating those who stood against him were not just for mortals.   After having bathed any region he could not take himself in dragon fire, slaughtering thousands of humans, and capturing the few enemies he held that he allowed to live, Aien began to calm his conquering in order to allow his mate, Neia Lun De Draco, carry out the rest of their work. Omnia arising within his captured settlements caught his attention as being potential soldiers to use rather than his mates, allies, and children, and he began to train those that survived the transformation process in order to target the armies of other flights. This proved to be a tremendously miscalculation, as the very omnia he trained revolted against him and nearly killed him when his temple was detonated and crushed his left arm, leaving him with a choice: starve to death and have his territory fall to enemies before he could reform, or chew off the limb.   During the War of the Moon, Aien once again began to support his original cause through Neia and her flight, supplying many of his own solar dragons as her soldiers in order to take on the gods, but not for the sake of winning or believing that Neia could actually dismantle the pantheon, but to weaken her and take over her remaining territories and assets himself. He was killed in the early phases of the war, however, by one of the very omnia he trained to kill dragons, as a bid to put an end to the war before it truly began and has been seen as a martyr by the most volatile of the Solar Flight since.

Failures & Embarrassments

During the War of Black Ash, Aien was gravely wounded by the revolting Omnia. One of his limbs was badly damaged, crushed under the weight of his destroyed temple and in a bid of desperation, chewed off by the dragon. This wound is viewed as a great weakness, that the omnia, often said to be 'like ants' by the dragon, could inflict such a grievous injury to him.

Relationship Reasoning

Neia and Aien are a bonded pair, and with no equals in power and strength other than one another. Their entire relationship is founded not on mutual respect, but by draconic cultural norms, they cannot take on mates drastically weaker than themselves. Due to the only dragons meeting this criteria being one another or hated enemies, it is a relationship of convenience.   Aien has fathered hundreds of Neia's children for the sake of continuing her bloodline and having heirs, although he considers almost none of them to be his children, favoring those with other mates and declaring them to be true solar dragons.

History

One of many children of Neia and Aien, Rikta grew up under their rule during a time when they directly ruled much of the world. Having been brought up on tales of her parents' legacy and on her mother's propaganda, Rikta wholeheartedly believed that the world truly belonged to the lunar dragonflight, having cast aside loyalty to her father for his 'failures' at dominating humans.

Relationship Reasoning

Aien views Rikta much more favorably than his mate, if only due to his disdain to Neia's own methods of controlling her flight. Despite this, Rikta is as much an outcast from his own as she is to the lunar flight, though not formally an outcast.   Having learned from the past, both her own and that of her family, Rikta despises Aien as well, though not viewing him as cruel ad she does Neia, for at least he gave those he conquered the mercy of quick deaths, the majority of the time.

Relationship Reasoning

She has a famous dislike of the dragon due to his cruelty and treatment of mortals. A feeling that has been strengthened due to him and Neia Lun De Draco starting the War of the Moon and declaring war against most of the gods. From Morien’s perspective the dragons usurping the gods by force could interfere with the plan of the supposed Great God. Something that is in her eyes reinforced by most other gods joining the fight against the dragons. The dragon has an immense dislike of the Cult of Dogs and their god due to encouraging a constant resistance towards their dragonflights and being some of the more effective combatants when it comes to fighting off dragon attacks. Worship of dragons that aren’t currently gods is considered blasphemy by Morien and her cult.

Relationship Reasoning

Umbra has a distaste for the dragon and the solar dragonflight in general due to their powerful sun magic. As the powerful light of said magic often gives them an advantage when fighting Umbra. Umbra takes great glee in making an example out of a member of the solar dragonflight whenever possible. For members of Umbra’s Cult, slaying a solar dragonflight member is usually enough to earn them the favor of the god and great prestige. Leading to Umbra and the dragonflight’s leader becoming natural enemies. There has been a noticeable increase in mortals turning to Umbra during the War of the Moon as they pray that its chilling darkness may shield them from the scorching sunlight of Aien Sol De Draco and his powerful followers.
