Nullum

Overview

The Nullum is a dimension of pure anti-magic, a close underlayer to the Prime Materium where the forces of Null dominate. It is a realm of oppressive darkness and silence, where the very essence of magic is suppressed and extinguished. The landscape is barren and desolate.

Interaction with Aethix

The Nullum projects Null across the Aetherium and throughout the Inner Planes. In many places, this is balanced by the presence of Aether from Aethix. The two forces reach an equilibrium to one degree or another wherever they meet.

Geography

The Nullum is a barren, flat expanse of hard-packed, cracked dirt, appearing as if the ground has been parched of moisture for hundreds of years. The landscape is desolate and devoid of life, with the earth's surface fractured and dry. Dust hangs in the air, creating an opaque atmosphere where even the slightest notes of magic struggle to exist for brief moments before being extinguished.

Localized Phenomena

Anti-Magic Field

The Nullum, bein the source of Null, is overwhelmingly dominant over Aether. That imbalance nullifies all magical energies. Spells fizzle out, enchanted items lose their potency, and magical creatures find their powers greatly diminished.

Void of Light

Light struggles to exist in the Nullum. Even the brightest sources of illumination are dimmed, casting long, eerie shadows.

Gravitational Anomalies

Gravity in the Nullum is unpredictable, with pockets of intense gravitational pull interspersed with areas of near weightlessness.

Temporal Stasis

Time in the Nullum is at a standstill relative to other planes. The flow of time is imperceptible, creating a sense of eternal stagnation where moments stretch indefinitely, and change is a foreign concept.

Fauna & Flora

Myth, legends, and outright lies circulate around the presence of living things in The Nullum. Very little os formally known. Scholars suggest several potential lines of evolution:
Void Wraiths: Ethereal beings that thrive in the absence of magic. They are drawn to any remaining traces of magical energy, seeking to consume and extinguish it.
Null Elementals: Manifestations of the plane's anti-magic properties, these beings are composed of pure Null energy.
Other Beasts: Creatures adapted to the darkness and anti-magic environment, often with abilities that further suppress or negate magic.
