Aethix

Overview

The Aethix is not a physical place that beings can travel to in the same way as other dimensions. It is in effect an overlay across the Materium. When a mage reaches into the structure of a spell or thing, or perceives magic with their mundane senses, they are in fact percievining or interacting with The Aethix.

Mana

From the Aethix, mana is drawn. The strength and stability of a being or enchantment's connection to the Aether determines both the rate of draw, as well as the strength of the vessel's capacity to contain mana without it draining away.

Interaction with The Nullum

Aethix and Nullum are opposing forces, each placing 'pressure' on the materium (or another dimension/plane) until they find a balance. The relative strength of these two forces varies from place to place, or can be influenced to change by a variety of factors or acts. A stronger presence of Aethix results in spells being easier to cast, enchantments and effects decay more slowly, and dispelling more difficult to accomplish.
