Annuum Sylvarum (AN-oom sil-VAR-um /ˈæn.uːm sɪlˈvɑː.rəm/)
Realm of Abundance, Season, and Renewal
The Valley of Plenty is a Proximal Realm of extraordinary vitality, where nature exists in its most fecund and undiminished state. It is not merely a reflection of the natural world, but an idealized expression of it, shaped by cycles rather than decay and governed by balance rather than scarcity.
The plane is wholly insulated from infernal influence, and its metaphysical fabric resists domination, corruption, and imposed transformation.
Connections and Thresholds
Access to the Valley of Plenty is rare and circumstantial. The most stable point of entry lies through the Temple of Thresholds, where a fixed doorway opens directly into the heart of the realm.
Less deliberate crossings occur through liminal natural features. Travelers may pass into the Valley by unknowingly stepping through fairy rings, walking beneath living arches formed by entwined branches, or following animal paths deep into untamed forest where direction yields to instinct. These crossings are seldom predictable and often leave no trace.
A final, perilous route exists beneath the Roots of the Tree of Life. Those who descend far enough are drawn into a vast swamp beneath the world, from which they emerge within the Valley itself, at the Pool of Dreams. Passage by this route offers no protection save that granted by the realm upon arrival.
Structure of the Realm
The Valley is arranged in four immense concentric regions, each embodying one of the seasons. At the center lies Summer, followed outward by Spring, then Autumn, with Winter forming the outermost ring. These regions are not symbolic. Each is fully realized, containing the flora, fauna, and conditions under which life flourishes most fully within that season.
Encircling the Valley is a continuous ring of towering alpine mountains, sheer and impassable by ordinary means. To walk from the central Summer lands to the base of these peaks requires a full year of uninterrupted travel within the plane.
Despite its seasonal structure, the Valley possesses an unsettling sense of timelessness. Days pass, yet seasons do not progress. The absence of change can disorient those accustomed to linear time, particularly as temporal flow differs sharply from the Prime Materium. For every single day that passes beyond the Valley, a full year elapses within it.
Nature and Magic
Life in the Valley is abundant beyond mortal expectation. Game is plentiful, plants are rich and nourishing, and no region lacks for sustenance. Predation exists, but without scarcity. Death occurs, yet without depletion.
The fabric of the realm is unusually resistant to magical manipulation. Spells may be cast freely, but living creatures and growing things possess heightened resistance to arcane effects. This resistance is innate rather than learned, and it does not apply to the Fea, who are intrinsically bound to the plane’s nature.
Attempts to forcibly reshape the land, alter its cycles, or impose artificial order upon it consistently fail or unravel.
The Pool of Dreams
At the precise center of the Valley lies the Pool of Dreams, a flawless basin of crystalline water. It is a place of convergence, where memory, intention, and possibility surface briefly into clarity.
The Pool is used for cleansing, blessing, and divination. It reflects not the present alone, but potential paths and unresolved truths. The doorway from the Temple of Thresholds opens directly upon its edge, and many who enter the Valley do so without realizing the significance of where they emerge.
Inhabitants and Authority
The Valley of Plenty is ruled by Thulune, Mother of Shapeshifters, whose presence is felt more as guidance than command. Her authority is absolute, yet subtle, expressed through the balance of the realm rather than decree.
The Fea are native to the Valley and flourish throughout its seasonal regions. In addition, any natural creature may exist within the plane, often appearing in forms more vital or archetypal than their material
