War of Anointing

A brutal conflict of faith and succession that shaped the modern Church of Holy Law and the balance of power in the Mornlands and central Imorea. It erupted when multiple claimants, each backed by rival factions within the clergy, declared themselves the one true anointed ruler, leading to a war where swords and scripture clashed in equal measure.

The conflict lasted for decades, with kingdoms rising and falling in its wake. Holy orders and inquisitorial sects battled not only for control of the throne but also for the right to define divine authority itself. It was during this war that the Iron Precept was forged, emerging as the Church’s ultimate weapon against heresy and dissent.

In the end, the Tribunal of Law consolidated power, declaring the rightful sovereign to be sanctified by the Church alone, forever binding the Crown to the will of faith. The first Monarch crowned was King Beurhal the Unifier. But the war left scars that have never fully healed - some still bemoan that the wrong king was anointed, and that somewhere in exile, the true bloodline of Law waits to reclaim its place.
