Beurhal Aedernic

In the year 743 AR, amidst the smoldering wreckage of the Wars of Anointing, a warlord named Beurhal Aedernic was crowned King of the Mornlands. Not by blood nor by election, but by conquest—and by the blessing of a fractured Church desperate to end the bloodshed.

Born of no noble line, Beurhal rose during the final decades of the Age of Woe, forging a kingdom from oathbound warbands, defeated rivals, and shattered provinces. His rule marks the turning of the calendar and the founding of the Age of Echoes.

A King Long-Lived

Beurhal ruled for nearly one hundred and twenty years, never faltering, never aging past his prime. His courtiers changed. His enemies withered. He remained. The Church called it a miracle. Others called it a curse.

By the end, he was a silent figure behind veils and carved screens, issuing unusual edicts in a clipped tongues. His final years remain cloaked in speculation.

Death and After

In 862 AR, Beurhal vanished into a tomb of his own design, in the catacombs of Turvalon. To this day it remains sealed, visited by no living soul. Some claim it is empty. Others say his heart still beats beneath the stone, guarding the Accord he forged in life.
