Iron Precept

The Iron Precept is the inquisitorial arm of the Church of Holy Law , tasked with rooting out heresy, enforcing doctrine, and ensuring obedience to the divine order. Founded during the War of Annointing, when rival sects threatened to fracture the faith, the Precept has since grown into a relentless force of judges, interrogators, and warrior-priests, answering only to the Tribunal of Law and, in theory, the Crown.

Its agents, known as Preceptors, move in plain robes or darkened armor, their mere presence enough to inspire fear or fanaticism. They wield both scripture and the sword, purging those who stray from the path—whether they be sorcerers, apostates, nobles who defy the Church, or even errant clergy. To many, they are a necessary terror, ensuring stability and divine justice, while to others, they are zealots without mercy, who see doubt itself as a sin.

Rumors speak of schisms within their ranks, with a growing faction questioning the very foundation of Law - but to voice such thoughts aloud is to invite the pyre.
