Raudric Bemond
Duke Raudric Bemond governs the Duchy of Lascaille, a sun-shy and rugged expanse in the southwest of Othvarand, stretching from the shrublands northeast of the Gloaming Weald to the outer reaches of the Salt Coast to the west. He rules from Dauxmere, a fortified town surrounded by thorny scrub, dry stone fields, and weather-worn roads once built by the Imoreans.
Bemond is a career soldier turned nobleman, known for his discipline, reliability, and unshakable sense of duty. Though not a man of grand speech, he is respected across the realm for keeping the borderlands secure and the southern roads passable, and he does adhere to many of the martial traditions tracing back to the Age of Glory. His grip on the duchy is firm, neither cruel nor soft, and his reputation is one of measured resolve.
Lascaille is a hard land: lean in harvest, rich in stone, and inhabited by as many soldiers as crafters. Raudric governs accordingly. His bannermen are drawn from stockmen, stonemasons, and outriders; his scribes are few but exacting; and his justice is known to be swift but not senseless.
Though he commands coastal holdings by vassal, Raudric prefers to remain in Dauxmere, close to the overland routes and the unpredictable borderlands near the Weald. He is a faithful adherent to the Church of Holy Law, although he has come under notable scrutiny from the Iron Precept for the high cult activity operating within the Gloaming Weald.
