Tirsh Nalani

The capital of the Rasharan Mercantillium is the city of Tirsh Nalani. The city is in Western Rasharan's Cradle of Spices, towards the center of the continent. The Haratrsa Way, which begins in the west at the Rashtara Span, winds down into the valley's western end and crosses it to the east, running through the city. The city is located at the eastern end of the valley, nestled on the valley's floor at the base of the cliffs. A tunnel through the cliffs was hollowed out, slowly climbing until it emerges from the surface high above the city to the east.   At the west end of the valley where the road slopes down and at the east end, both immediately atop the cliffs and farther away where the road emerges from the ground, walls and battlements protect the city from intrusion. Watchtowers every half mile monitor the cliffs from intrusion, making it hard for anyone to rappel down unnoticed or fly an airship into the valley without authorization. Fortifications are strongest to the east, to keep the creatures roaming the Sandsea of Juddarith from entering.   Spread out in the grasslands atop the cliffs in the east is the District of Plenty. Consisting of a large village of farmers and other merchants and businesses to support them, there are plenty of pastures, fields, and orchards spread out around the clifftops, under protection from the city guard.   The city proper is divided into six districts, each beginning along the rock wall to the east and extending west towards a small wall separating the city proper from the farms and fields where the spices are cultivated. Two districts lie north of the tunnel to the surface, three lie south, and the Haratrasa Way passes through the last one. The Thoroughfare District is neutral ground, not under the dominion of any of the five merchant guilds of Rasharan. The city's law enforcement and courthouse are located here, as is the headquarters of The Purveyors' Purse, a guild of independent merchants and traders without the resources of the other merchant guilds . The Hall of Lords serves as a neutral and well-fortified meetingplace for the lords to come together for political discussion or trade deals.   The other five districts each contain large guildhalls, estates for the guild lords and other important guild members, and businesses to support guild efforts and district residents, as well as workshops where the guilds craft products for sale. Northernmost is the Stone District, where the Mason's Hammer guild manages the trade of stone and stonework. Between the Stone District and Thoroughfare District is the District of Wonder. The Mystic Wonders guild trades magical artifacts and curiosities around the world. The district has an office for the The Arcane Overseers' Consortium and has ties to Mysterium Arcana as well.   South of the Thoroughfare District is the Textiles District, where the Clothier's Craft guild deals in clothing, linens, and silks. Next is the Armorer's District. Trade in weapons and armor is the purview of the Warrior's Arms guild. Southernmost is the Spice District, where the Cradle's Choice guild exports spices from valley producers to the rest of Temshai.
