The Dorae Fasso

Dwellers in the desert will tell anyone who will listen how dangerous their homelands can be, and that may seem as if they are lamenting their homeland. The fact of the matter, however, is that to the last beating heart among them, they love the sands of their homes. They adore the color changes, and the challenging weather. They adore the music of the wind through the dunes, and travelling under the clear night sky.   Many of the diverse people that live and thrive in the Rhegev Desert follow a an age-old philosphy they call the Fasso Way. This philosophy promotes the spread of love and acceptance in order to live wild and free. Its practitioners are fierce defenders, but will only fight as a last resort. To that end, they train incessantly with their scimitars, and just as hard with musical instruments. The roots of this philosophy are interesting to those who study such things, in that it is borne out of kindness   There was a time, in the far distant past, of disaster. The Travelers had fought back the Primordial Annihilation and its powerful ally and servant, Pandora...but only with the help of the Vekhet Spheres that had been, at the time, busy terraforming the planet, Tellus. When they fell, they wrapped each other up in their arms and wings, and plummetted as one. Their impact created the Sea of Glass in the northern Rhegev Desert, in Taisha. According to the famed anthropologist, and professor at the world-famous Bardic College Campus, G. Gnormand Gnomanclature III, there had been another tragedy on a much grander scale going on at the time. One that nobody but the Gnomes even knew about at the time. Quothe the professor,
The Travellers won the day, barely, with the help of the Vekhet spheres. The vekhet spheres, which had been busy terraforming our lovely little planet when Shayna started punching holes in nearby planes of existence. Terraforming; changing the landscape of the entire planet. Reforming continents. Creating ecosystems and biomes, introducing an environment friendly to carbon based life forms. Oxygen breathing, food consuming, carbon based life forms. The creators of these wondrous globes...seven, in all...were brilliant. And, to their credit, their own planet had been destroyed, so they were technically refugees and can be forgiven for the oversight, but the planet had already been inhabited.   Going into their physiology prior to the Vekhet Spheres' handiwork is pointless. They were silica based life forms, and that is all that is needed to be known. But, here's the secret, kids...they became the Gnomes. Sure, laugh all you want, but Gnomes are real, and they were created when the technology of the Terraformation process stripped their former lives from them, entirely, in a matter of weeks. It had changed their bodies, and altered their perceptions of the world around them. These innocent creatures had been forced into a life of discomfort and ultimate death, only "living on" through their offspring.   Well, long story short, the gnomes that had been living in the area of the crash called themselves the Dorae Fasso. They were peaceful, loving, and kind, with crystal clear voices that they raised in song even as the glass of Glaine Cuan was cooling. They searched for the fallen dragons, thinking to lay the noble beasts to rest...
The Dorae Fasso, eventually, began calling themselves, simply, The Singers, roaming the world amiably, bringing the song to all ears that would hear it.
