Stilton House
The Stilton-House is the government yard and house of the loosely-regulated city. The Chancellor of the Exchequer's offices are located here, on the first floor (of course), as is one of the rare offices of the Merchant and Sailors' Guild.
Purpose / Function
It is the Burgermeister/Mayor's domicile, and home to the government offices for the city.
Alterations
It is altered each time there is a change of leadership, but only the decor and overarching color scheme.
Architecture
It is a sturdily constructed basic manor, built upon a foundation of Dwarven stonework. There are built in stables, butteries, a commercial-grade kitchen and dining facility (The Mayor throws a lot of fetes), and 11 spacious suites for visiting royalty and dignitaries.
History
Built after that islet burned to the ground, it was made on a newly discovered foundation of obvious Dwarven make.
Tourism
People come from far and wide! Most to go on a 'safari' for bragging rights back east, tho in truth they never go very far into the mirk of The Impenetrable Forest of Birkwud. Some do; brave adventurers with 'long lost' maps. Or parties of individuals hired by some lord, or a powerful wizard seeking an artifact buried within the thick, tangled growth of the old forest.
