Hamish's Crypts-Penitent Way
This fifty-foot hallway rises to a twelve foot arch above the charactersRead the following aloud, if you wish
This hallway is graced with powerfully built arches. They, also, are constructed of bones and mortar, and feature skulls prominently in in their design. The walls are comprised of the same mortared bones and bone fragments as the rest of the rooms you have seen thus far, but instead of ending in a flat ceiling, they arch up to meet each other twelve feet above the floor. The floor is made of alternating bone, and green-veined-marble, tiles, running the entire fifty feet of this hallway. This hall is known as The Penitent Way, and is meant as a minature pilgrimage. To best test the petitioner's commitment to atonement, these arches will enchant any metal that passes between them. It will heat it to a glowing, cherry red, as per the Heat Metal spell, and will cause damaging burns if the item is not dropped expeditiously. Once again, this is only one layer of Hamish's clever crypt defence plan. Halfway down the hall, once again covered and camoflauged by a thin plating of rare, green-veined marble, is another acid pit. Once again, it will collapse if more than fifteen pounds is placed on the marble, dunking whatever caused the collapse in a tank of acid. Unless a DC20 Dexterity saving throw is made, or the trap is avoided/untriggered, the character will take 6d8 Acid damage when they enter the acid pool, and a further 3d8 acid damage on each turn that they start while submerged in the acid.
Purpose / Function
To prove one's willingness to atone for their sins.
Design
It is a simple, yet well built, archway hall.
Hazards & Traps
The acid trap smack dab in the middle of this hall is quite diabolical!
Special Properties
The archways are magnetically induced to heat any metal passing through them. This is technological, not magical, and therefore cannot be dispelled.
Architecture
It is clad in bone plaster, bone fragments, and mortared bone mosaics.
Defenses
The archways leading down the hallway each cast Heat Metal on anything, or anyone, passing through them. Also, incidentally, there is an acid pit right smack in the middle.
