Crescent Island

This is the largest of the islands that make up the Isles Of Mists it is also the most well settled, mainly due to the presence of Freeport. Currently a home for many different races and considered a haven for people looking for a new home to start a fresh the island population has grown substantially in the last hundred years.
It is now a major trade center for the world and yet is not directly under the control of any single nation, this makes it a haven for merchants and those who wish to operate outside of political circles. However the island peace is maintained by several powerful heroes and the small army based at Freeport. Though bandit and pirate attacks are common they are rebuffed most of the time by the forces present on the island.
Much of Crescent Island is still wilderness and most of the settlements dot the coast, the central part of the island is taken up by the temperate rain forest that surrounds Mount Ingle, danger lurks amongst the trees and several ancient ruins dot the forested slopes.

Geography

The island consists of a large central mountain, thought to be an extinct volcano. Surrounding this is untamed temperate rainforest consisting mostly of Cypress and Oak, this supplies a large portion of the timber used by the island's inhabitants. towards the coast the land opens up in to low rolling hills of green pastures that eventual end at the rocky coastline.

Evergreen trees: bay laurel, pine, and cypress
Deciduous trees: sycamore, oak, and buckeyes
Fruit trees: olive, figs, walnuts and grapes
Shrubs: rosemary, Erica, Banksia, and chamise
Sub-shrubs: lavender, Halimium, and sagebrush
Grasses: grassland types, Themeda triandra, bunchgrasses; sedges, and rushes
Herbs: Achillea, Dietes, Helichrysum and Penstemon

Iron, Silver, Wood, Stone, Goats, Sheep, Cattle & Pasture Lands.
