Kashii (a.k.a. The Crimson Giant, The Bastion)

Kashii is the Altean Army's first hyper-advanced mechan unit, providing uncompromising brute force and unrelenting durability to a battle. Likening him to a sledgehammer would not be inaccurate. While he does not fill any support role within the Army, he serves as a frontline commander and anchor during combat. Unusually empathetic and soft spoken, this giant is nonetheless awkward in conversation.

Physical Description

Body Features

While humanoid, Kashii is far larger than any human, and with unusual proportions. While approximately seven feet tall at the head, forearms and shins more akin to metal tree trunks than human limbs distinguish him from any other mechan. With hands and feet sized to match, large squared pauldrons, altanite weave four-part armour skirt, and twin exhaust pipes protruding upward from between his shoulders, his unique silhouette is complete. His head is protected by an upturned gorget and raised metal collar built into his upper torso, but otherwise structurally similar to standard Altean mechans. He is painted a crimson colour with silver on his shoulder trim and armour skirt. Being mostly altanite in his construction, he is immensely heavy.

Apparel & Accessories

Occasionally, Kashii can be found wearing an approximation of a brown military greatcoat. It is worn open, with enormous holes for his arms in place of sleeves with an extra button on top of the shoulders so it can be fastened on.
A massive blade can also be found on his back in a vertical release sheath, held on with an altanite segmented belt. The sword has a handle two feet long, leading to a double edged blade six feet long, twenty inches wide, and two inches thick at the center. This weapon is not kept sharp the same way a traditional sword would be, as its wielder values its immense heft and battering capabilities more than a comparatively flimsy razor edge. Plus, the solid altanite blade would be very cumbersome to sharpen.

Specialized Equipment

Due to the extreme power demands of Kashii's powerful frame, a prototype combustion engine was installed to turbocharge his maiga harness when needed. When used, it lets loose a distinctive roar from his chest, and billows gouts of smoke and even flame from his exhausts. Additionally, he needs the extra power to maintain the pair of matrix maigums he runs on. For reasons undisclosed, this has never been done in another mechan successfully, and gives Kashii limited shaper abilities connected with the earth. Each enlarged forearm houses additional weapon systems; both have flat, wide retractable blades that emerge above the wrist, and in pop-out compartments along the underside of the forearms are a compact Crusader and a six shot micro rocket launcher under the left and right, respectively.
