Matrix Maigum

A crystal full of complex microscopic pathways for Maiga, a Matrix Maigum is the processing core for Mechans of all types. They are found naturally during mining, though can be synthesized with the help of a Shaper. While they are typically a clear colour, the Altean Army and Angor's Diezens have stronger than normal versions that are an electric blue and a deep purple, respectively. The non-mechan members of both organizations wear a Matrix Maigum on a necklace, using them to signal one another.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The inner pathways of a Matrix Maigum simulate neurons firing in a brain when supplied with maiga, allowing the mechans they help power a measure of cognitive function, though rarely to the level of self awareness. This is a trait seen almost exclusively among the Altean Army's and Diezens' mechans, attributed to the unique Matrixes they possess. The precise hows and whys of their function are the subject of academic study.
