Altanite
Named for the Altean Army that discovered it, altanite is a material guarded carefully by the Army for use in their Mechan soldiers and their gear. It is commonly made into an alloy to spread its supply and offset the great weight the solid metal possesses.

When refined from its ore, the metal is a dull grey that cannot be further polished.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Incredibly dense and resistant to damage and heat. Altanite requires truly immense heat to work, but can be threaded into a fiber and still retain its properties when made into a woven sheet.
