"And so, the gods descended on Tarroc, but Tarroc it was not yet,
they molded first the mountains and the oceans, calming the storm of earth and water
they seized the air and used it to paint the skies above
at last they captured Fire and set him deep within the earth
and thus was Tarroc"
-Excerpt from The Book of Creation
Celestial is thought to be the oldest language in the multiverse. Spoken by the gods themselves, it has existed since the beginning of time. It is the origin of the Celestial language family, from which both Draconian and Infernal are descended.Writing System
Modern Celestial is written using the Common Alphabet with a few slight variations, though ancient Celestial was written using logograms. Entire pages of writing would be condensed into a single complex spiral, which began at the top left corner of a page and continued counterclockwise until the center of the page was reached.

The word order of Celestial is most typically Object-Subject-Verb, though in practice there is much variation, especially in poetry such as in The Book of Creation. Prepositions are used in favor of postpositions, and adjectives tend to be placed after the noun that they modify, though these "rules" too are frequently broken. Rising intonation is used in the formation of questions.
