Kheldon the Great

Founder of the Drakshal Monks

A mighty warrior and terrific wander, few have led such a storied and vary life as the mighty Dharjan warrior. A wanderer at heart, he travelled the Carboth Desert and surrounding mountains in his youth, having numerous adventures. The most famous of which was his encounter with the blue dragon Strax. Legend says that this was the first encounter between a Human and a dragon. It ended poorly for the wyrm as Kheldon slew him.

Later in life his wanderings took him out of the desert, leading him to the Soulmeliti Forests. Here, he spent time with the seemingly eternal Soulmeliti, learning much about their lives of contemplation. In particular, he was taken by their study of unarmed combat, a skill that he described as an art both beautiful and deadly.

From the Forests he travelled west, into the Rheuthengage Mountains, encountering the Khadra. His years in the Underground Kingdom taught him much about patience and the simple pleasures of fine craftsmanship. To dedicate one's life to the perfection of a particular craft seemed to Kheldon a high calling.

After many winters, the warrior returned to his homeland only to find himself an outsider among his own people. The patience and contemplative thought he had learned seemingly had no place among the Dharja. While a few of the younger generation, enthralled with his stories, adopted his life of meditation, the elders found him disruptive. In 1246 BC he left again, this time with a small cadre of disciples. Travelling once again to the tranquility of the Rheuthengage Mountains, they settled down to build a small monastery where they could meditate, hone their martial skills, and perfect the simple crafting of fine tools and stonework. They named themselves Drakshal, the Way of the Dragon in Soulmeliti.

Over the years, their Monastery increased in size and splendor, aided by Khadric craftsmen. They now accept devotees of all races and are famous for their fighting skills and craftsmanship, especially their fine Ale.
