Danara Derringer
Archmagi and Invoker
Few wizards in the history of Tarien have inspired fear on the field of battle as this willowy silver haired Eldorian legend. Active for most of the tumultuous Fifth Century AC, Danara served as general in the Imperial Legion for thirty years before retiring to the imposing Tower of Fire and Ice in the Raiznith Forests. She was, by all historical accounts, an imposing figure on the field of battle, her robes of silver stitched crimson velvet billowing around her, crackling with energy, a small quiver of wands at her belt and a mighty staff of gnarled white wood in her hand. Her distinguished service record shows that she saw action in Grennig, Mennith, and the Carboth Deserts, her magical talents lending strength to a military - and Empire - stretched too thin. And while Eldoria eventually withdrew from each of these theaters as it divested itself of far-flung colonies there are many historians that argue without Danara's aid the empire itself might have utterly vanished.
After her retirement from the Legions, she joined the Council of Archmagi shortly thereafter and it is said that a fear of her raw arcane power helped check the ambitions of that groups less morally inclined members. Like most of the Council, she did not participate directly in the Great War, instead spending much of her time in scholarly pursuits, one of which reputedly trapped her on some extra-Tarien campaign for much of that conflict. She retreated completely from the public eye after the Miracle of Rebirth until most thought her dead. In the early Sixth Century, some fifty years later she appeared in Phelandria, her body bent and skin sallow, at a distant relative's small manor before passing away in her sleep.
