Curthot Cher'bit

Corrupt Flietch-ta Emperor

Obsessed with power, Cher'bit created a tangled web of alliances with different houses, major and minor, in the early 5th Century. Finding himself highly leveraged and owing contradictory favors to different houses, he did the unthinkable - he attempted to disband the Justicars. The righteous Flind, disgusted at his behavior, deposed the Emperor, sending him fleeing to the Elanthai Council for support and protection. It was in talks with the Council that Cher'bit comitted another unthinkable act - he pledged imperial troops to support the Elynthi in their upcoming war. In exchange, he returned to Pash-ti with a contingent of Elynthi, reclaiming his throne and exterminated the Justiciars. Fortunately for the Flietch-ta Empire, his son, Curthot Kerto reinstated the stately order.

While many Flind historians regard Cher'bit as the worst of all emperors, noting his cowardly actions and their cost in lives - both for the Justicars he slew and the thousands of soldiers that later died fulfilling his promises. Scholars from other races have pointed out that the formal alliance between the Empire and the Elanthai Council opened the doors for trade - primarily Ork slaves at first - with the Elanthai Council. That relationship has not only proven fruitful, but as the years have worn on, it has started to open up the Flind economy to other races and other forms of trade.
