The first thing people notice about Balder is his wild hair - snow white and patchy but invariably standing up on end where its still comes in. The tufts are particulary thick around his ears which has lead at lead one Nerrid audiologist to beleive that ear hair directly relates to deafness. Within a few moments of meeting him, however, staring into the wild ice blue eyes as Balder shouts conversationally, it becomes clear that it is his life's work with Smoke Powder that has caused his loss of hearing, not his hair.
Balder spends most of his time now well away his own lab where assistants make Smoke Powder, deep beneath Lartchan in caves of the Blasting Emporium. Blader himself prefers to focus his energies on weapon design. Whether he is experimenting with new, larger Thunder Tubes, improved Arki-blast's that fire sling stones or even small clay, apple shaped devices filled with smoke powder called grenado, Balder is happiest tinkering with things go boom.
When not working he enjoys vigorus -if loud - debate with other weapons enthusiets and fine pint of cider or two. He makes it a point to meet every stranger in town, eager for stories from the rest of Tarien. His meetings tend, however, to be lit be lit with magical light as he has a healthy fear of open flames.
