Glass-Spear Peaks
Towering above the region, this massive glacial mountain-range is a place of wonder, danger, and strange mysticism. It is a place not well explored, and a place of impressive stature. Here, it is believed, the tallest peaks in all of Valerick can be found, towering behemoth's of glacial ice, as if stone, jutting and piercing the clouds out of sight. Some scholars hazard a guess that the highest summits may be some thirty kilometers above the base of the plateau, easily towering over all of Valerick, even despite the higher ground elevation in some regions south of Suranth. The ancient glacial range is home to all manner of creature, despite the seeming lack of resources such a place may offer. Yeti, strange and twisted beasts of ice and snow of all kinds, harpies, and more. Some legends even suggest that upon the tallest peak in the region lives a truly ancient and forgotten beast. A primordial, a true dragon of Aeir, a master of the wind and currents. These stories are dismissed as wild and fanciful bedtime tales for rowdy children by most, but it is worth noting that ever few years some bold group of another gets it in their head to go and seek this legend. None have ever returned. Most would write it off as victims of the mountains themselves, yet it is a point worth noting. The ice is said to hold many secrets, and archaeological expeditions to the edges of the range are not unheard of, and on occasion they uncover truly fascinating things from the ground beneath, trapped for untold millennia by a monstrous glacial sheet. On occasion they even uncover truly odd things preserved within the ice.
