Flows of Magic
a Tale of Contradicting Mythologies
An overwhelming majority of tarants believe the world was created by Malmi, the spider goddess. She wove the continents and oceans, crochetted every creature and flower, and breathed life into her creations.
The Children of Life and Death disagree. Malmi may have created the structures of Tarantellia but Basi's life force fuels the world. The necromancer's soul is look for their next champion.
Localization
A steady flow of magic seeps into the world from Tarantellia's core. Traveling more readily through water, magic typically accumulates near coastal regions, areas with heavy rain, and bodies of water.
While water is a conductor of magic, it can be over- or under-saturated, depending on the proximity to spouts of magic. Consider the saturation of a drop of red food coloring in a:
drinking glass
bathtub
lake

As such, areas without fonts of magical energy are barren. These territories rarely see rain and have minimal access to running water, like Orie Country.
Meanwhile, the Claw Continent is overwhelmed by magic. Creatures - sapient and otherwise - have delevoped unique abilities from flight to arcanesight. Some entities have grown at rapid rates or developed additional limbs.
In cases where the magic does not manifest in a fuctional way, the entity may become feral or acquire intense vulnerabilities, like perpetual manicsight.

If you dipped a white natural fiber cloth in the first two, you'd probably pull out a ruddy or pinkish cloth. But in a lake or ocean, it'd probably still be white. Unless, of course, there's an oil spill.
Weather
Devastating storms of magical energy occur when extreme amounts of excess magic gathers. Common conduits of this energy are known as magical artifacts.
These storms typically occur when the region's magic users (fauna, flora, & fungi) fail to find a use for the influx of energy. Low magic regions experience the most calamitous results.
Due to the magical nature of these storms, fluctuations in gravity, explosions, and mass hallucinations are common. But these storms can take on other forms, consider sandstorms, acid rain, tornadoes, tsunamis, and hailstorms.
Controlling Magic
A few communities have created magic attracting rods in surrounding areas to redirect these storms from their communities; however, the locations where magic is shunned, usually has the worst storms. Any magic users finding themselves in these areas must be careful as their magic may behave erratically.Related Effects
