Nortra'agh

'The blood witch plunged the dagger into her own flesh, and screamed, raw and furious magical energy pulsated from the wound and spread, all over her body. She raised her arms to either side, her scream reaching fever pitch. The magical energy exploded outwards, incinerating anyone too close, and taking everyone in a thirty metre radius off their feet. The very earth beneath her cracked and shook, and still she screamed, the bloody knife still sticking out of her leg. The roar of the blast was deafening. And then silence. The blood witch sank to her knees, and then collapsed.'   The Nortra'agh Clan are one of the ten Paédor clans in Mirkireth, and are notorious for their bloody and war-like nature, which means they are despised or feared by many of the other Paédor clans. The Nortra'agh are also notoriously isolationist, and aggressive towards any outsiders. They are also considered some of the best warriors in Mirkireth, due to their passion for wanton destruction and near suicidal tendency to charge headlong into the enemy with no thought of strategy in battle. Their capital is Enkros, a large town built in the swamps north of the Magna river.   The chief of the clan has all power, and is usually the biggest and most fearsome warrior, or blood shaman. The Nortra'agh have a very bloody history of uprisings, assassinations and civil war, indeed, when they aren't fighting outsiders, they are fighting amongst themselves, and often an old clan chief will be overthrown, violently, by someone stronger.   Nortra'agh warriors are taught from practically birth to fight with speed and fury, and show little regard for their own safety, they believe bows to be cowards weapons, preferring instead large swords or axes, which allow them to battle up close to their enemy. This attitude lends itself well to Resh'va, blood magic, which all those in the Nortra'agh clan who show magical ability are forced to practice from a young age. Blood magic is a particularly dangerous form of magic, which is outlawed in most societies outside of the Paédor. It involves either drawing blood from oneself or others to produce powerful magical energy, which then takes an enormous amount of energy from the caster to control. Because of this, miscasts are often devastating, resulting in varying degrees of destruction. Even with a successful cast, many blood mages still die of exhaustion or blood loss. But dying in battle is what the Nortra'agh aspire to most of all.

Military

The Nortra'agh place the most value in fighting, they believe it is the traditional way to live, and as such the only acceptable career for a young Nortra'agh clan member is warrior, or blood shaman. They have the largest fighting force of any of the Paédor clans, up to 30,000 warriors, incredibly almost 75 percent of their total population.

Technological Level

The Nortra'agh are the most gifted at blood magic in the world, a practice outlawed by many other cultures due to its often catastrophic consequences.

Foreign Relations

The Nortra'agh are brutal isolationist warriors, hostile to all outsiders, including many of the other Paédor clans, although do still trade with a few of them.
