Destroid

Doctor Destroyer's Acquisition Troops

One among many to be found in the hold of the attacker's hovering barge, this Destroid is certain to be part of a set numbering at least five -- and may have disgorged in two columns of fifteen each.

Destroid robots are pre-programmed to invade a location, search it for materials that match a specified materials scan, acquire said materials, and carry the acquisition back into the hold of the attack barge.

Appearance

This hovering machine appears to be one large tapered metal cone, with its narrowest end pointed downward and sheared off before the point, topped by a slightly flattened hemispherical dome. See also Oyvindtk's most accurate representation on Thingiverse for excellent visual detailing in their three-dimensional model. Always visible at first inspection, even when the Destroid is docked on its charging station, are the glossy "front" panel in black, the nonretractable Grabber Arms, the laser port "eyes" in the dome, and the bottom Hoverbeam Emitter.
Additional tentacles can be extruded from panels in the conical body of the Destroid. They do not have Claw tips; they are intended to use for Grappling a target object or person which the Destroid will carry back to Destroyer's cargo bays. However, the tentacles can also be used in some situations to attack barriers with blunt force, or to rip apart any pesky constraints.

Bonuses and Limitations:

  • Flight only allows the Hunter Robots to hover about a foot off the ground.
  • Radio Communications represents the robots homing signal. It transmits the robots’ location. It can also be used to send a signal burst to a supervising entity, providing collected data, so that additional instructions can be returned.

Notes:

  • Int is used by the Destroid for pathfinding as it sets about its goal, or for analysis of scanned materials for comparison to the desired attributes of the target material (or person?) to be acquired. In most circumstances, a Destroid is not capable of independent problem-solving.
  • A Destroid has two multi-jointed Grabber Arms, each ending in a three-pronged Claw for attack or grapple. Each Tentacle added to a Grappling Attack imposes a -1 Column Shift to OV upon the subject of the Grapple, for a possible maximum per Destroid of a four Column Shift penalty.
  • The three-pronged Claw set on each Grabber Arm will rotate at the "wrist joint" to form a Whirling Blade for the Claw attack. These will make a buzzsaw-like, high pitched whine sound, which may give an unsuspecting target an extra Perception Check to realize an attack is imminent.
