The Grey Fissure

Located on the western coast of what was once known as the Plains of Tosoc this massive rent in the ground filled with the ocean and now spreads wide between Kalandorei and what remains of the old southern continent. When the great quakes shook the world and the southern Daggermaw mountains slide into the sea all that remained was this gigantic channel.   At its northern end sits the Island of Daintree, the last remaining city of the old continent. A great distance to the south-east and almost perfectly in the middle of the channel, the city of Islandholme has risen from the murky depths.   No one knows how deep the Grey Fissure is but it is known that the Horath Assembly and the Brotherhood of Silk have both tried manually and magically to ascertain the information with no apparent success.   Something that was discovered in their explorations is that there was always a huge cave network below the mountains that is now filled with rocks and debris. Along with these fallen wastes from the time of the mountainous collapse a large amount of dwarven artifacts have been recovered and now rest in the Horath Assembly wing of the Museum of Antiquities in Hegelind.   Very little large marine life lives in the fissure. The exception to this is a species of giant turtle the locals of the western coast call Eilandgrootte which is a native word meaning "Island Size". There is also an abundance of fish and small crustaceans which have allowed for coastal towns to pop up along the coast to fulfill the needs of the bigger cities. Shrimping is the primary fishery that has utilised the fissure. On any given day you will see the fleets leave from Hegelind heading out to fill their nets.
