Eilandgrootte

Massive is the only word one can use to explain these leviathans of the ocean, often seen in the deepwater of the Lecrecian Sea the Eilandgrootte or Island Turtle have now made their home in the The Grey Fissure between the southern wasteland and Kalandorei. The fisherman of the west coast named them Eilandgrootte in the native tongue, it translates to "Island Size" which is a pretty accurate description.   A large specimen may grow several hundred feet across and have jaws that could chew up a ship like it was a lunch meal. It is lucky for the shipping and fishing community that the Eilandgrootte is a very passive creature more interested in sitting up on the surface sunning themselves to stay warm. The single specimen that the Museum in Hegelind has was closely inspected when it was still flesh and it was found to have no internal warming mechanism like a reptile. This has been said to explain the sunning behavior.   Very little is known of its food habits or anything else about them other than they have moved into the fissure. The fish populations are not depleted when Eilandgrootte is about and no one has seen one eating krill or plankton either. Some of the more science-based organizations of the land believe it is the near bottomlessness of the Grey Fissure that has attracted them.   The only real danger Eilandgrootte prose to the sentient races of Everia is that of crashing into one with a ship. This did happen with a ship called Lucky Explorer that ran into one and sunk into the unknown depths along with all its crew and cargo other than two masts that sick from the poor creature like tiny spikes.   They are still a great mystery left unsolved.   The native egg-laying grounds for the Eilandgroote were known to be in the secluded coves of the western coast of northern Kalandor. With the catastrophic destruction that occurred wiping this area from the face of Everia the egg-laying areas have now become a mystery yet unsolved.   Viewer Questions:     SmalltownCreepy
