Ly'syr (le-SEER)
Located in the southern reaches of the Elderwood, Ly'syr is the secluded kingdom of the Wood Elves. Originally established by a colony of Elves who sought to reconnect with their supposed Fae heritage, the Wood Elves of Ly'syr are dedicated to living in balance with their forest home, and posses the greatest knowledge of nature aligned magic among the Elf kingdoms. It's thanks to this mastery over the magical forces of the Elderwood, combined with their alliance with the nature-aligned Cernai, that Ly'syr is able to stand on equal footing with the other Elf kingdoms despite its seclusion.
Culture
The people of Ly'syr greatly value the natural world, and endeavour to disrupt it as little as possible. To this end, their communities and structures are built (or, occasionally, grown) to incorporate the surrounding environment, and all food and materials are grown and hunted using the old ways. The people of Ly'syr also greatly respect nature magic, as well as the magic of the Fae Realm, and strive to protect such magics from outside influence.
Assets
Due to its location in the Elderwood, Ly'syr has plentiful access to wood (including the highly valuable Faewood), food, and natural materials. Being located in an area with such a strong connection to the magic of the Fae Realm, Ly'syr also has the greatest knowledge of nature magic, and produces some of the finest Druids in Imera.
Demography and Population
Wood Elves make up the overwhelming majority of Ly'syrs population, with the Cernai making up the second highest population.
Territories
Ly'syr occupies most of the southern Elderwood, and shares a border with the Cernai tribes that dominate the majority of the ancient forest.
Military
The many hunters, guides, rangers, and druids that support daily life in Ly'syr also make up the majority of its fighting force, fighting alongside its few dedicated warriors. Overall, Ly'syrs armies are made up of light, fast moving infantry and highly mobile missile troops supported by nature magic.
Technological Level
The people of Ly'syr make no use of Magitech, as they believe it would disrupt the natural magic of the Elderwood. Instead, they make use of various enchantments in their infrastructure.
Foreign Relations
Ly'syr has a strong alliance with the Cernai tribes of the Elderwood, and maintains good relations with most of the other Elf kingdoms. They also have neutral relations with the surrounding human kingdoms, and they are generally welcoming to outsiders, so long as they respect their laws.
Agriculture & Industry
Ly'syr has a strong agricultural industry throughout its settlements, which is further strengthened through foraging and hunting in the surrounding areas.
Trade & Transport
Trade with other nations is done through outposts built along the outer edges of Ly'syrs boundaries. Additionally, all of Ly'syrs settlements are connected by a network of well-worn dirt roads.
Education
All Wood Elves receive their education from the local Keepers of their city/settlement beginning around the age of 5 or 6, and are educated in such subjects as the history of the Elves, the history of the Elderwood and its inhabitants, the workings of nature magic, and how to maintain the balance of the Elderwood. When a Wood Elf child reaches adolescence, they also begin training to become hunters and rangers, or Druids if their talents lean more towards magic.
