Cernai Tribes

Covering nearly the entirety of the Elderwood, the Cernai Tribes are the dominant faction in the region. Rather than a single united nation like those beyond the Elderwood, the various tribes of the Cernai are largely independent of each other, though they are allied with one another for the purposes of supporting one another, and furthering their goal of protecting the natural world they call home. Thanks to this union, the Cernai Tribes have continued to prosper well into the current age, and remain a respectable power in Imera.

Structure

The Cernai Tribes are largely independent, with the closest thing to a central authority among them being the Elder Council, a council made up of the Chieftains and Elders of each tribe. The purpose of this council is to resolve disputes among the tribes, and to provide leadership during times of crisis.

Culture

The Cernai Tribes hold great respect for the natural world, and always strive to preserve it however they can. This desire to protect the natural world around them has greatly influenced many aspects of their culture, with the tribes never taking more than they need to provide for themselves, and building their settlements in such a way as to avoid disturbing the nature around them. Beyond just protecting their forest, the Cernai Tribes are also dedicated to protecting the balance between the Fae and Mortal Realms, frequently interacting with various Fae entities, and even having established a few settlements in the Fae Realm.

Public Agenda

The confederation of the Cernai Tribes was created to unite the various individual tribes to an extent, mainly so they can better pursue their self-appointed duty of safeguarding the natural world and the Fae Realm, as well as to better defend themselves from outside threats.

Assets

Due to their location within the Elderwood and other nearby forests, the Cernai Tribes have a plentiful supply of wood (particularly the highly magical Faewood), as well as vegetables, some grains, and berries gathered through farming and foraging. Due to their close connection to the nature magic of the Fae Realm, the Cernai Tribes are renowned for their knowledge on nature magic, and produce some of the greatest Druids in Taevas history, with only the Wood Elves rivalling them in this regard.

Demography and Population

The populations of the tribes consist entirely of Cernai.

Territories

The Cernai Tribes cover the vast majority of the Elderwood, with only the innermost depths of that ancient forest being left unsettled.

Military

The Cernai Tribes don't have much in the way of a standing army, with the closest approximation consisting of forces of their best hunters and Druids.

Foreign Relations

The Cernai Tribes are largely neutral towards outsiders, though they are on good terms with the Wood Elf kingdom of Ly'syr. Additionally, the tribes maintain good relations with the various Fae creatures they share the Elderwood with.

Agriculture & Industry

The Cernai Tribes have a thriving agricultural industry, further strengthened through foraging.

Trade & Transport

The Cernai Tribes frequently trade among themselves, and occasionally trade with outsiders when needed. Travel through their territory is done entirely on foot along well-worn dirt paths.

Education

The Cernai are educated by their local village Elder(s) throughout their childhood, and are taught such subjects as how to navigate the forests, how to farm and forage, the history of the Cernai and the Elderwood, and how the magic of the Elderwood works.
