Sorinn Kelriath
Kelriath Sorinn is a
Drakai Sellsword currently working as a bodyguard for the
Moon Elf scholar, Nyriia Ilimear. Having ventured far from her homeland of
Dranya to the south, Sorinn hopes to work off the "Honour Debt" of her ancestor, while also trying to put some distance between herself and the society she believes shuns her.
Physical Description
Sorinn has a tall, fit physique.
Sorinn has a humanoid body covered in scales, two slightly digitigrade legs with four toed clawed feet, hands with four fingers and a thumb each, and a tail.
Sorinn has a dragon-like face topped with dark grey, backwards facing horns.
Sorinn is easily distinguished the symbol engraved into her right horn, which marks her as having an "honour debt" passed down from an ancestor to pay.
Sorinn wears simple, yet sturdy, clothing consisting of trousers, a shirt, and open-toed footwear designed to accommodate her clawed feet. As a sword for hire who had to pay for her own equipment, she also wears a simple, lightweight set of armour consisting of a pair of greaves on her shin, a simple breastplate, and a pauldron and vambrace on her right arm.
Sorinn carries a simple iron hand-and-a-half sword and a simple round shield, as well as a simple spear for fighting in more open spaces, and which she favours as her primary weapon. Additionally, she also carries a small pack with her, most commonly a bedroll and some provisions.
Mental characteristics
Sorinn received the same basic education as her peers, and completed basic military training training before leaving. Since she started working as a Sellsword, much of her combat training has been self-taught.
Sorinn was enlisted in the
Dranyan Legions for a brief time, before her status as one of the "Honourless" made her feel forced to leave. Since then, she's taken up working as a travelling Sellsword, and is currently working on the continent of
Imera, far to the north of her homeland.
Sorinn is fairly skilled at "in-the-moment" planning, able to adapt to most situations quickly.
While she does feel obligated to do her part in restoring her families supposedly lost honour, Sorinn personally believes that one shouldn't be held accountable for the actions of some distant predecessor (one of the driving motivations she has for leaving her homeland is the feeling that she was effectively being punished for something she wasn't even alive for). Instead, Sorinn believes that one should be judged by their own actions and abilities.
Personality Characteristics
While she does feel some obligation to do her part to correct the "dishonour" of her ancestor, Sorinn secretly hopes to start a new life outside of her home society.
Sorinn is skilled at the art of swordplay and polearm fighting, and has some skill at in-the-moment planning and working under pressure. Unfortunately, due to working alone for most of her sellsword career, Sorinn often has difficulty working with others.
Sorinn is loyal to those who've earned her trust, and shows a willingness to stand up for those who have been wronged. Due to their own experiences with being judged for the actions of her ancestor, she prefers to judge others for their own actions.
Sorinn can often be stubborn and hard-headed, and often has difficulty asking others for help. Additionally, has the worst temper out of the rest of the group, and is often the first among them to respond to an insult or challenge.
Sorinn has a habit of running her claw along the mark carved into her right horn when lost in thought.
Social
Nyriia Ilimear: The Moon Elf scholar currently employing Sorinn as a bodyguard.
While she can be passionate about the things she cares about, Sorinn often projects a stoic demeanour around others.
Sorinn has a casual and direct manner of speech.
History
Sorinn and Nyriia first met almost two years ago, not long after Nyriia first set out to conduct her research in the field. It would be at a tavern in western Myrell where their paths would first cross, with Nyriia being in the area seeking a bodyguard to protect her while conducting her field research, and Sorinn stopping over in the area while looking for work. Recognising how they can both benefit from it, the two of them struck up a partnership, one which has lasted lasted into the present day. Nyriia appreciates the safety and company having a travel companion brings her, while Sorinn appreciates the steady work their partnership brings her, and while she may act indifferent, she appreciates having some company.
Relationship Reasoning
Sorinn needed work, and Nyriia needed protection while out in the field.
Sorinn has a modest amount of wealth, largely living from one job to the next.
