Veiled Faculty

Brillansis is where Tacillia's foremost thinkers, the philosophers live. It is their duty and part of the memorandum written during the founding of Brillansis and the Parliament to develop ideas on how Tacillia and its nations can progress and grow. These are only recommendations, and because they are only recommendations, the leaders of the various countries are not keen on implementing them mainly because it would take away power from those who should execute them. Of course, many people need more than promises, and there are rumors about the secret organization called the Veiled Faculty, which actively carries out covert missions to aid the recommendations of Brillansis.

Their name comes from Brillansis too. The staff who helps out the members of the Parliament is called the Faculty. Nobody knows who gave the Veiled Faculty its name, but it mirrored the Faculty as a group that helps advance the agency of the Parliament. However, none of the members of the Faculty, the provosts, or the members of the Parliament participate in the activities of the Veiled Faculty. There were a handful of investigations already conducted on the ground of Brillansis, but even using magic, nobody was targeted as to have connections to the Veiled Faculty. Although a couple of people quit right before various investigations, most of them were tracked down and questioned without success.

Although nobody is sure the organization exists, if it exists, they use a distributed system, having many small groups instead of a big one with one central leader. If you have an ideal that a group can follow as its base model, it is easy for small groups to pop up without any assistance from a bigger group. Most probably, nobles and high-ranking military and government members are not part of the Veiled Faculty. Most of the recommendations coming from the Parliament would curtail their power. It is much easier to recruit lower-ranking people when they realize they can have a better life. So far, most activities credited to the Veiled Faculty, from convincing people to replace a local government agent to outright murder, occurred within the Dominion. Other nations, like calamor, valturo, and lupian, require a different approach, and the skat'ra is impregnable with their hive mind.

Many think the Veiled Faculty and the Cursed Conclave are the same organization. But their agenda is different. The Cursed Conclave wants to help the cursed, while the Veiled Faculty wants to help everybody on Tacillia.
