Enas, the Creator | the Destroyer

Enas, the Creator

Enas, the Creator, was the first god to exist in Syndeomai. They assumed the form the Destroyer after they and the other Aether Gods were betrayed by Urbos, God of the Nether shortly before The Great Aether War.

Appearance and Personality

No historical records exist that document the true appearance of Enas, nor their chosen manifestations to mortals. Most Theologians ascribe to one of two explanations for this apparent gap in the literature. The first, and more popular, theory is that any documents and art that depicted Enas were destroyed during The Great Aether War. A second fringe theory has arisen, supposing that Enas never appeared before any mortals, and thus could not be captured in art. According to some, this second theory is impossible: given that Enas was made entirely of Positive Energy, there would not be any way for Enas to suppress the urge to share its creations. Just as the other Aether Gods were unable to do so, Enas would have been victim to the same creative impulse that led the Aether Gods to create mortals.   Thus, there are many artistic depictions of the appearance of the Creator-God (and Destroyer-God), unique to each culture in Syndeomai. Some Eastern Isles cultures suggest that the Creator manifested as an immense whale, spanning across the horizon even at a great distance--exhalations from its blowhole supplied the world with the first Energies of the Universe, while the Destroyer took the form of an endless typhoon. In the Wildings, some villages believe that the Destroyer was an immense Remorhaz that was longer than a mountain range, while the Creator was not a being, but a hot spring that thawed the ices of the world. Records from the Second Dwarven Empire report that both the Creator and Destroyer appeared as huge Wurms that burrowed through the earth. The tunnels created by the Creator would fill with minerals after its passing, while the Destroyer would consume anything that stood before it. Countless other myths and legends exist, each reflecting the unique forces of creation and destruction, life and death, that faced their culture.

Their Creations

Main Article: The Truth of Creation

Isocrystal Layer

The first, and arguably most important creation of Enas, was the Isocrystal Layer, the layer of Isocrystals that separates the Aether from the Nether and therefore allows for the separation of Energies. Without this layer, life as we know it on Syndeomai could not exist.

Aether Gods

The second, and most interesting creation of Enas, was the Aether Gods. Each was born from a particular location on Enas's body, and these locations are considered sacred by the religions of Syndeomai.

Nether Gods

The third, and most tragic creation of Enas, was the Nether Gods. After their betrayal by Urbos, God of the Nether, this final act of creation consumed all the positive energies that remained of Enas. As with the Aether Gods, the Nether Gods emerged from particular locations of Enas's body. These locations are considered sinister and evil by the people of Syndeomai.

Religions (and cults) that Worship Ilos

Glory of Genesis

Main article: Glory of Genesis   The Glory of Genesis worship Enas and no other gods, holding all things made by Enas, the Creator, as sacred. Conversely, this religion reviles all things made by Enas, the Destroyer, without second doubts. Accordingly, the religion has been called xenophobic by critics due to their treatment of many civilized races including Orcs, Half-Orcs, Goliaths, Tieflings, and Lizardfolk.   One unique aspect of this religion is the reverence they reserve for Urbos, God of the Nether. While many religions decry Urbos as a traitor and a Nether God, the Glory instead consider him to be a misguided Aether God.   Followers of The Glory are evangelists, believing that if enough mortals believe in the Glory that Enas will re-assume the form of The Creator. Additionally, Followers of The Glory are pacifists who hold all life sacred. They refuse to partake of animal flesh and only eat fruit which has fallen from the vine, pining for the pre-War when all mortals consumed ambrosia and nectar with the Gods. Violence is strictly forbidden by The Glory. Accordingly, many of their important saints were martyrs.

Cult of Cataclysm

Main article: Cult of Cataclysm   Choosing to worship Enas, the Destroyer, the Cult of Cataclysm are a doomsday cult who seek to restore Enas to their destructive form. Believing that the corruption of Enas was part of the universe seeking equilibrium between the energies, Cataclysmists sow destruction and discord wherever they go as an attempt to return Energies of the Universe back into the great cycle of Positive and Negative Energies. They believe that once Enas re-assumes the form of The Destroyer, the universe will be pulverized back into a cloud of Energies.

Cult of Revelations

Main article: Cult of Revelations   Holding the fall of Enas and the shattering of Navaros, God of Fate and Prophecy as exemplars, this cult believes that all things must die--including the Gods. Not much is known about the Cult of Revelations, as they are incredibly hostile to outsiders. Some theologians hypothesize that their goal is to kill all the Aether Gods and the Nether Gods, thus separating them from other sects who worship denizens of the Nether.
