Isocrystals

Isocrystals are a lattice of positive Energy that can store either positive or negative energy. Empty Isocrystals appear to be clear, like a diamond. Isocrystals with energy appear to have a cloudy, moving substance inside called a Core. The nature of the energy stored determines the color of this Core. Isocrystals are the strongest material in the world and can only be created by the gods.

Isocrystals are useful for spellcasters as they can store and expel positive and negative energy. They are colloquially called Iso. Furthermore, Iso is sought after by crafters of magical items. When heated to extreme temperatures, Isocrystal becomes sticky and can adhere onto any energy. The bond between cooled Isocrystal and the energy it adheres to is immensely powerful.

The Isocrystal Layer

Isocrystals form the base of the Material Plane and are responsible for the segregation of the Aether from the Nether. Strata of rocks cover the top of the Isocrystal Layer. Immediately underneath the Isocrystal Layer is a dense concentration of negative energy that has adhered to the crystals. Similarly, the top of the Isocrystal Layer is covered in a strata of positive energy. The Isocrystal layer spans across the entire universe, and the material plane covers a small surface of it. The farthest reaches of the Isocrystal Layer lack any energy and are the coldest parts of the universe.
