Lüngarm
The Lüngarmen, also called Lüngarm, Warg-men or Ulfir (a Steinntung word) are a distinct tribal culture and a species native to the Leshivoi Forest.
In terms of their physiology they are often described as much taller and more muscular than the Sattal man yet with similar manish traits leading to some scholars at the Academia Ars Magicka et Mundana considering them a branching off-shoot of the Races of Men.
Their ears are rounded and their faces often fairly broad-featured compared to the typical drau.
They are said to have three hearts with one being solely dedicated to their legendary regenerative abilities and other such strange physiological quirks.
Lüngarm supposedly have blood that coagulates much faster as well as scabs and scars more effectively than their assumed closest relatives among the Races of Men granting them a truly impressive capacity for withstanding, surviving and moving past even injuries that would incapacitate and kill most other men.
The Lüngarmen are known for their coarse body hair which grows on most of their body and for their ability to grow beards that could almost make the Dwarves of the Great Cavern of Aman-ya consider them an equal.
Sexual dimorphism among Lüngarm is notably little with physiological differences between individuals capable of child-siring (akin to drau males ) and ones capable of child-bearing (akin to drau females ) aside from the primary reproductive organs being hardly noticable to non-Lüngarm leading to the terms Lüngarmen and Warg-men being used irregardless of sex.
The Lüngarm traditionally emphasize their social roles as men or women by wearing distinct styles of makeup and shaving or growing out and styling their beards but to those unfamiliar with their physiology a barely stubble-bearing shaven Lüngarm-wyff may still pass for a very broad and masculine man among the other Races of Men.
Lüngarm of all genders wear their head-hair long in their adolescence but hair loss is consistent at around middle age and as such a shaved head distinguishes the elders of their species also irregardless of social gender or sex.
They are known to live in tribes lead by a leader who can be of any gender and further organize by bannering behind a so-called Chief King in Warhosts.
Each Chief King is surrounded by a court of nobles representing the influential families of the Warhost.
Lüngarm courtly politics are most often seen as direct and bloody affairs where matters are solved by way of ritual combat ultimately but there is a surprising level of underhanded tactics, subterfuge and plotting involved in many Lüngarm courts.
Nobility among Lüngarm is hereditary for three generations after which, at the latest, a noble house has to back its claim to greatness up with heroics and great deeds of valor, honor or sacrifice either in war or the hunt in order for the family to retain its traditional title.
Very commonly such trialing testaments and proof of values is seen as a mere trifle with families that have held their high standing for a very long time almost naturally retaining it.
Simultaneously this means that anybody who carries out deeds of great value can, in theory, become a noble and the leader of a newly formed noble house.
In practice most commoners unfortunately lack the means and required leisure time to go to war for heroics sake or hunt Great Beasts.
The Lüngarm are adept hunters and warriors known for their physical power and cunning tactics as well as their savagery in battle.
They are said to be such cunning and legendary hunters that they stalk and kill many of the terrifying creatures of the Leshivoi Forest and even Spirit Beasts.
The greatest of their heroes supposedly kill Corrupted Great Beasts, paying tribute to the Eldest Gods by hunting down the greatest of their descendants when they fall victim to cruel corruption and threaten the sanctity and balance of the Leshivoi Forest as a whole.
Traditionally Lüngarmen culture is deeply intwined with the Forest Warg which they co-habitate with as mounts and consider their equals, a distinction that may seem strange to the City-dwelling scholars of the Academia Ars Magicka et Mundana but which the Lüngarmen find very important.
According to the Lüngarm the Warg are as intelligent as men and are more companions and war-brothers rather than beasts of war.
Both the Warg and the Lüngarm believe themselves to be sibling-species descended from the Twin Wolf Gods Kahari-Cathan and further believe that each of them takes one of the dual shapes of the Twins and that they lost the respectively other shape.
It is because of this that Vukash is, among the Lüngarm and Warg, considered to be the highest divine blessing there is as it allows the Races of Men and Elves to take a shape that weaves together both of the ancestral shapes of the Kahari-Cathan.
Kobolts are also often seen cohabitating with the Lüngarm, often serving them as underlings, scouts and menial laborers as well as crafters and engineers using their diminutive size and dextrous paws to create artifice, tools and crafts that the Lüngarm prize but could not craft themselves.
Aside from their cordial relations with Warg and Kobolts the Lüngarm are said to be very war-minded and are feared by most of the Forestfolk due to their martial nature and violent temperaments.
The Lüngarm are also said to be culturally very physical and violent due to their own bodily resilience and imperviousness with physical violence and combat being considered good form and inoffensive in many situations within their society.
Some say that Lüngarmen marriages are so rare because in order for a wedding proposal to be considered successful both parties must almost die.
The Lüngarm also share the tradition of Names of War and Peace with their close confidants, the Warg.
According to this tradition each adult member of a Warhost has one name used exclusively in times of war and another name used exclusively in times of peace.
Misuse of a war or peace name may constitute grave offense and result in ritual honor combat that for those more frail than the average Lüngarm may prove deadly fast.
