Vukash

Vukash, also called Wolfborne Madness, the Twin Wolf Curse (or Twin Wolf Blessing) or lycantropy is a condition about which little solid medical or scientific knowledge is recorded, even among the vast libraries of the Academia Ars Magicka et Mundana most tomes on the subject delve into Myth-Weave and conjecture quickly.

According to Stygian superstition the condition, supposedly a curse or disease is caused by the bite of wolves, the bite of another Vukash'ai, the drinking of the water of a forbidden well or spring within the Leshivoi Forest or even simply placed on an unfortunate soul by a malevolent Vedmak, a practitioner of forbidden Witchcraft.

It is said that after the original infection the suffering victim develops a terrible fever within days and eventually becomes a raving lunatic that transforms into a raving and rampaging wolf-monster.

In Myth-Weave and folklore these beings, called Vukash'ai ("Wolf-Walker") are often described as struggling to control over their frenzies though ultimately they all lose and become mindless flesh-eating beasts that prowl the night and hunt and kill those that do not have the protective blessing of Serkatha.

The Vukash'ai are also rumored to be worshipped as the embodiment of their dreadful Eldest Gods horrible power and their unquenchable bloodlust and rage, first and foremost being associated with the Twin Wolf Gods Kahari-Cathan, the Firstborn of Wolves worshipped by the Eldest Faith among the Forestfolk.
