Kobolts
Kobolts, also called Hulferlin or Ulferlin in Steinntung Dwarven, are a species of small canine (often described as dog or wolf-like) humanoids native to the Leshivoi Forest.
They are roughly the same size as the Halfling Men of Styx with canine heads featuring large ears, furred bodies and pawed feet granting them the agility and dexterity they are known for.
Hulferlin have hand-paws with opposable thumbs and relish in the use of all manner of crudely engineered weaponry and tools.
They are also known to be especially fond of tinkering and scavening the ancient ruins of the Leshivoi Forest in search of interesting materials and artefacts.
Hulferlin are an aggressively eusocial species that prefers to live in large family units, communal havens and extended clans.
As such they are found widely across the various tribes, clans and kinships of the Forestfolk and take on diverse roles within their respective communities being known as clever crafters, tinkerers, stealthy scouts but also ruthless warriors when their communities are threatened.
They are especially often found co-habitating with the Lüngarm who consider them something like very annoying but ultimately useful little siblings.
Kobolts are most often part of the Eldest Faith of the Leshivoi Forest and especially revere Kh’árī-Cat’hán̂ the Twin Wolf Gods.
They are sometimes also referred to as the Numberless Runts of Kh’árī-Cat’hán̂ setting them in comparison with the more physically powerful and more well-respected Lüngarmen (also called Warg-Men) and Warg with whom they share the connection to the Twin Wolves.
In their worship of the Firstborn of Wolves Kahari-Cathan they are said to also commonly form cults dedicated to the Great Beast Incarnae known as Forest Dragons, the greatest of the progeny of the Twin Wolf Gods.
