Estinople

Estinople is the capital of the Estinian Imperium. It is home to both the Imperial Palace, as well as the Senate. It is also the titular capital of the Estinos Orthodox Church of Alcor, though the decentralized structure of that religion makes that distinction symbolic, rather than functional.

Industry & Trade

Estinople is the center of the Imperium and the most important port city on the Two Seas. As such, trade flows through the city freely. The official policy of the Imperial Palace is to allow trade in the capital to occur duty-free, so it has become an economically important crossroads for trade flowing up from the rest of the continent and trade flowing back southward.

History

Estinople was originally called Thaku and was founded while Tuh Shenfâdth Lîfidîth, the Lich-Queen, exercised sovereignty over the Two Seas Peninsula. Soon after its founding, it was added to the Itaros Imperium during the conquest of the peninsula in 7352 AF.
The town struggled as a minor seaport and fishing settlement until it was adopted as his personal town in 7689 AF by Emperos Estinos IV Magnus, who renamed the settlement Estinople, in his own honor. It immediately saw explosive growth. In the following year (7690 AF), Estinos IV named Estinople co-capital of the Imperium.
When the Itaros Imperium collapsed following the sack of Itaros in 7763 AF, Estinople became the capital of the now greatly reduced successor state, the Estinos Imperium. In the three centuries since, the city has grown in size and importance, becoming the pre-eminent city of northern Corvalis.

Estinople is the most important city on the Corvalan continent. There are a number of landmarks there due to either its history, or its position as the capital of the Estinos Imperium.
