The Knotted Net Report
General Summary
48th to the 50th day of Thuyir in the Year 8089
Having contracted to frame Almar Cutface, the party made their way back to Estinople. They investigated the Knotted Net, Almar's base of operations upon arriving, where they observed some normal patrons, some apparent thieves, the obvious figure of Almar (a half-orc with a mighty scar across his face, who apparently owned and operated the tavern), and a mysterious half-elven woman to whom Almar was curiously deferential, given that she was in his establishment
After resting, the party began to make plans. Part of the group would enter the tavern and be a distraction while a smaller group would enter the second floor of the tavern and look around in Almar's office or quarters for anything that could be used to incriminate him. The second group was not at all stealthy in their approach and attracted a crowd, so the distracting group started a brawl in the tavern, which took a deadly turn as Almar and the half-elven woman revealed themselves to be highly accomplished leaders of a number of master thieves.
As the brawl went on, Munnin, Nak'Cue, and Ozymandias searched Almar's office, finding a journal and and a ledger, along with some other items of value. They took the goods. Munnin and Ozy made their escape from the tavern entirely, while Nak'Cue took on the form of a giant frog to help the combatants downstairs escape. Freyja, Lanmin and Kvothe beat feet out of the tavern. Nak'Cue came down the stairs and saw he wasn't needed and slipped out the back. The party escaped, having stolen some material from Almar's office.
They reconvened in a tavern in the nicer part of town, where they discussed their next steps and forged some material to make it seem that Almar had penned it, based on the handwriting in his journal and ledger.
