Dragon's Hoard Cluster
A star cluster near the edge of old Cellean space. Particularily notable for managing to repel the Cellean fleets lead by Mad and Stringer during the The Omega-Delta Disaster. Desterat is functionally part of the cluster, though only loosely.
The five most populous worlds here are as follows;
Nova Serica, 12 billion
Ksic, 7 billion
World's Edge, 6 billion
Bounty, 928 million
Riartoclien, 856 million
Of course, many of the systems these planets reside in have Dyson Swarms, which house a significant amount of population.
Politics
The star cluster currently encompasses 21 stars, with seven of them having significantly settled planets. The cluster is a rough bubble, around 21 lightyears in diameter on average, though more wide than tall. The nations here are not united in the slightest, and the brief period of unity that lasted for a decade or so when the Cellean fleets attacked was an exception. There are very few outright wars in the cluster, but political manouvering, espionage, and other types of non-warfare competition are very common. While the nations within the cluster are quite involved with each other, the cluster as a whole is very isolationist.Technology
The technology present in the cluster is perhaps the highest in ex-Cellean space, rivalling powerhouses like Ak'Thakra. This is a significant part of why they managed to survive the Cellean collapse as they did. At present, their technology is around the mid-2500s, and has advanced past what the Cellean empire once had.Natural Resources
Due to a small supernova somewhat far in the past in astronomical terms, anyway that was centered on the cluster, resulting in an abundance of heavy metals and elements used for more complex industry. That has lead to a rather significant mining industry springing up in the region, and is the namesake for it. It is also a part of why the cluster retained its technology in the face of the Cellean collapse.
History
Settled near the close of the 24th century, the first planet settled was called Nova Serica, named after the habitat they were originally from, Serica. Nova Serica is a fourth-generation colony, and as such, they had more advanced technology than most in the region. They retained that tech for a long while, and even developed more over time. While they did keep to themselves, they did settle some new regions and allowed a few nearby settlements and inhabited places to join the cluster's influence, like Desterat.
But then, in the 2500s, the Cellean autocratic space's 27th and 28th fleets arrived, headed by Stringer and Mad respectively. The nations of the cluster, upon hearing of their arrival a few systems back, assembled a large fleet and became remarkable united in the goal of defending their home, sending the fleet to the Omega-Delta 452 system, and Desterat. And eventually, the Cellean fleets came, and the The Omega-Delta Disaster happened. After Stringer's fleet was routed, Mad made a ceasefire with the Dragon's Hoard fleets, vowing to leave them alone and disperse the fleet. The defensive fleets, largely intact, then returned home, the cluster now safe from Cellean incursion.
Their isolationism also allowed them to remain intact while the area around them fell largely into chaos and civil war. Through the Cellean collapse and the chaos that would follow, they remained fine, expanding within their systems and developing new technology. Now they sport a respectable population and remarkable stability, even despite the power struggles within.
