In addition to the other pilots of the 257th, Hudson took extra time to trade stories and tips with the pilots of the Rebel Legion and many of the smugglers who drifted in and out. He taught Luke Skywalker some things that, roughly two decades before, he had learned from a hotshot Jedi pilot named Anakin Skywalker -- not to mention one or two nifty little tricks belonging to a Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo.

Hudson was easy to like. A lot of people were inclined to do him a good turn.
