Jawhiratan

The heat-scorched mountains of Jawhiratan is a inhospitable place for most, with even the jinn having little love for it. While its cliffs might offer some refuge from the relentless heat, there's little food and even less water. If it weren't for one thing, this mountain range would probably be little than a curiosity, a destination for only the most determined nature enthusiast and eclectic explorers.   That one thing, however, is its great mineral wealth, with an abundance of rare metal. This makes it a cornerstone of the sphere's economy and every year, hundreds of miners and prospectors journey here to mine its metals and gemstones. As its far away from civilization, permanent mines were never established, with most teams working in season long shifts before packing up their stuff and leaving. These abandoned mines pockmark the mountains, offering refuge to the various animals and creatures of the area.

Geography

This area is mountainous and rocky. The earth cracks open in great canyons and gorges, forcing travellers to constantly change altitude.

Only the most stubborn of brushes and plants grow here. Specialized herbivores and carnivores eke out a living here, most capable of going extended periods without food or water, both being in short supply.

Fauna & Flora

Jackals commonly lair in the cracky shadows of the cliffs.   Oasis Gorilla favour the area for migration routes, as it gives a lot of shelter from the harsh light of the World Heart.

Natural Resources

Jawhiratan is rich in minerals, such as iron and copper. However, it's most famous for the large amounts of Ferromond that can be found there. Usually a quite rare material, this crystal-metal hybrid is found in abundance.   The area is also known for certain medicinal herbs that are rich in iron and thus used to treat bloodloss.
