Shoe Maker
Whaddya talkin' about? Crime? I make shoes. Get out of my shop with your wild accusations!
While the Shoe Maker sounds like a completely lawful and wholesome title, it's anything but. For an outsider, the Shoe Maker is just that - a person who makes shoes. However, within Eluin's Shadow and those who have picked up some of their secrets, the Shoe Maker is known of what he really is - the leader of Eluin's Shadow.
As the Shoe Maker is quite important to Eluin's Shadow and is a person who will generally get a lot of enemies from the nature of the job, they will need some kind of protection. This is arranged through the Shoe Maker's Shadows, a pair or trio of highly specialized bodyguards.
An Actual Shoe Maker
The title is not just for show, though. The Shoe Maker is actually a rather skilled shoe maker. The shoes he makes are sought after, and there's a long waiting list to have a pair made. He also make all the shoes that is used among the members of Eluin's Shadow for identification purposes and secret messages.
What Makes A Shoe Maker?
There can be only one Shoe Maker at any time.
The Shoe Maker will choose an apprentice that will help around the shoe shop. This is generally the person the Shoe Maker trusts the most inside Eluin's Shadow, and who seems to be a decent leader. This apprentice is taught the art of making shoes in that specific way that's needed for the job. The apprentice is also taught the bare minimum of what a leader of Eluin's Shadow needs to know. This includes quite a lot of secrets, hence the need for trust.
When the Shoe Maker dies or retires, the apprentice will take over the role as Shoe Maker.
If everything goes wrong and both the Shoe Maker and the apprentice dies, or are otherwise unable to lead, the members of Eluin's Shadow should choose a new Shoe Maker by vote. This new Shoe Maker will have a really tough job to try to learn all the things needed to do the job.
It's a- me, Shoe Maker!
