I am participating in both WorldAnvil's and NaNoWriMo's summer camps. I usually do run them both simultaneously, and this year is no different. I also host little programs for my writing groups and online buddies! I used to do them more in the NaNoWriMo forums sometimes as well, but I've scaled down there a bit. This summer, I pledge to try to do everything I can...and try not to beat myself up too much if I am unable to accomplish all my goals. I'll be working here in the wonderful world of W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. for the most part, of course. SUMMER CAMP 2023 PREP AND HOMEWORK!

Week One

1. SET UP YOUR PLEDGE ARTICLE

I'm working primarily in this world, of course. I plan to try to complete all 31 articles, but I don't know how successful I will be. My life has been crazy lately and I haven't even really been able to stream like I've wanted to. Hopefully, I can stream every day in July. I want to stream some prep in June as well.

3. THEME PREPARATION: POWER

There are several mysterious and powerful organizations that are hidden from view. There are also the powerful individuals who run them. I also know there are a lot of powerful items and technologies that can wreak havoc if placed into the wrong hands. The weaknesses and needs of most of these powerful entities is exposure. If uncloaked, they would all lose a large portion of their power. Most everything runs on secrecy behind the curtain. Lies, diversions, masks, and trickery. Without these things, their moves would be more predictable and preventable. Also (for those who depend on the persons pledged to them to carry out their desires) if motives and directives were fully made known, or merely personal identities revealed, these greats would likely lose over half of their followers, employees, and devotees.

4. TRACKING POWER AND RELATIONSHIPS

I'm already quite familiar with these applications. There are some feature improvements I'd like to see with them overall. The diplomacy webs are good in concept, but the way they are laid out is a bit annoying in my opinion. I don't like how things are messy and skip around. Also, a lot of things get lost in the box and I have to reload the entire page. Also, the character relationships are a tad irking because they take up the whole body of the article even if I don't want them there. I believe people have made css workarounds, but I don't personally find it beneficial to fill out if I'm only going to hide it.

5. EXTRA CREDITS FOR SEASONED WORLDS

I looked back at my meta not long ago, and I know that I need to improve it. I touched it up, added a bit more information, rehoned the focus, and removed some outdated verbiage (such as the fact that I was PLANNING to publish novels about it, but I already have some published now)!

Week Two

1. THEME PREPARATION: FRONTIER

There are many vast lands traversed, known, and owned by W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.. Many of these are home to secret bases and locations that are hidden from the public eye. These can be placed in deserts, plains, and icy tundras. A lot of them are on islands, but there are also many areas on the mainlands of continents that are hardly ever frequented by the average person. These are the perfect places to set up undercover headquarters, hide prized possessions, or house dangerous criminals. In addition to these things, there are several metephorical frontiers in this setting. W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. scientists are pushing the bounderies of every possible technology there is-and they are definitely not the only ones...

2.FEATURE HINT: MAPS!

Maps are a nice feature. They could also use a bit of improvement, but I will certainly try to incorporate them into my worldbuilding this summer.

3. EXTRA CREDITS FOR SEASONED WORLDS

I have been organizing my worlds quite a bit, but I should check back through to make sure everything is in its proper place. I also need to tag all the articles I've made so far this year with my 2023 tag, as I went through my world in late December/early January marking each article with the year it was created.I also just went through and sorted all my uncategorized articles.

Week Three

1.THEME PREPARATION: RELICS

There are many relics in my world. Some of them are revered by W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. and its agents due to their important significance in conjunction with the agency, but many are items from other cultures and nations all over the world. The organization knows of them because it is their job to protect them, recover them, and, sometimes, steal them. From olden art pieces to ancient documents and even prehistoric fossils, all kinds of things are bought, sold, traded, and fought over by black market sellers. There are also secrets hidden in some objects that W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. feels the need to conceal or perhaps even destroy...

2.GOING BACK IN TIME!

I did make a timeline or two for the W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. agency, but I have not done much with them. I need to alter them and add important points of interest. I suppose I've been putting it off because I don't want to reveal too much information about things for spoiler purposes, but there is a strategic way to share history without sharing too much. I will try to work on finding the balance, and the TIME to implement it!

3.EXTRA CREDITS FOR SEASONED WORLDS

I don't believe I need to scroll much through the images I already have in my world, as I typically don't upload them unless I am actively about to use them. I don't think I will find any mysterious, forgotten images. I should, however, make better templates for the blueprint-style article headers I often use. I may want to update the existing ones as well. Perhaps this is something I should focus on as a part of neatening up the world. I have already tried to attach a custom domain, and I am thinking about changing the css theme, so this will fall right in line with that.

Week Four

1.THEME PREPARATION: COMMUNICATION

Since this particular setting is based upon present day, there are several channels of communication. The mild sci-fi elements increase this phenomenon as well. Still, in such a secretive organization, there are many people who communicate covertly-or don't communicate at all! Someone is one of those people...not only because he is an Elite Espionage agent, but because he is very apprehensive about his past and personal life. Communication (or lack therof XD) is a key point in my world and I am happy to expound on it more!

2.FEATURE HINT: DICTIONARIES & WHITEBOARDS

I am familiar with both these features. I haven't fully used the WorldAnvil Dictionary in an article before, but I have used some whiteboards. I will try to implement them both more this year for summer camp!

3.EXTRA CREDITS FOR SEASONED WORLDS

I always love to read through old stories and articles of mine. I do so nearly every chance I can. I probably did some already and will try to do more soon! I enjoy learning from my past self and discovering how much I've grown.

Summer Camp Meetup Picnic!

After quite a bit of self-debate, I have decided to try my best to trek out to New York for the meetup on the last weekend of Summer Camp. Looking forward to some fun and possibly meeting lots of fun WorldAnvil beans in person. :D

I'll still try to have Commander McCox in the sidebar giving newbies the rundown about each article written, but even he doesn't know everything about everything...I'll also try to make more of my blueprint-style art for the article headers and such. I'd like to be able to do more but, realistically, I don't think I'll have the capacity. I'll probably end up using my generic photographs of random objects and nature due to running out of time to draw anyways.
