My Summer Camp 2022 Worldbuilding Pledge Document

Creative Goals and Motivations...

Secret Agent Someone is still my current project. Ever since I took a poll and decided to heavily focus on one particular endeavor, I have been quite pleased with my progress. Over the past two years (!!!) I've published countless short stories and several dramatized audio clips and holiday specials-- in addition to my most recent achievement; releasing an hour's worth of audiobook content from Someone Elsewood's origin story Troubled Beginnings (on sale now)!

I was also featured in two In Threads Zines for ShyRedFox's vss suite challenges (Singed Remnants and First Impressions), and even guested on Escape This Podcast with Lifestyles of the Fish and Famous- A Virtual Escape Room RPG Experience!

Before the year is over, I plan to roll out the piece of interactive fiction (choose-your-own-adventure type story) I've been working on, a second escape room, and the next chapter of Troubled Beginnings, prayerfully closing out 2022 with the complete episode of An Intern for Christmas the debut of which unfortunately got delayed last year. Optimistically, the New Year's stories will be available as well, but let's set goals low and aim high, shall we? ;)

Speaking of goals... how does this even tie into Summer Camp??? Well, I will keep building articles pertaining to the world. There are so many things I have in my brain about all my characters and projects, but I can't think to put it all on the page at once. That's why I LOVE prompts. When a suggestion is issued, before I create something new, I fish around in my noggin and ask myself: "do I already have something like this?" Nine times out of ten, I end up going "AHA! There it is. Let's tell the world about it".

Breaking Down The Prompt Themes...

As I've said, I LOVE prompts. Since the revelation of these themes, my brain has been churning over what kinds of articles I can write...

Expanse:

Since Someone's world is our world, there is a lot of regular earth stuff. BUT, that doesn't stop me from writing about secret islands and hidden lairs disguised within vast territory fronts. W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. is an elite, undercover spy agency after all. They even have bases in space...

Leadership:

W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.'s higher-ups are very secretive. Many agents will never even know who their boss' boss is-- some don't even know who their direct boss is. Maybe it's time to let the readers get a sneak peak into the leadership of this clandestine operation...

Discovery:

Discoveries? Discoveries... The scientists at W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. have made many of those. Agents have made those too. Discoveries about secret crime rings and cold-case mysteries- or, closer to home- hidden facts about their workplace... their fellow employees... their partners obligatory associates...

Monstrous!

Monstrous robots and genetic mutations? W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. has concocted a few- many of which have not been publicly revealed...

Monstrous weaponry and devices? Check and check. Some of this high-level stuff SHOULD NOT exist. Unfortunately, it does. Some is in the good guys' hands. Some is in the bad guys' hands. Some is even in the questionable, gray, psychopathic pyromaniac guy's hands...

Monstrous people? Oh, plenty. Some may argue that questionable, gray, psychopathic pyromaniac guys are monstrous...

Mini-Meta...

To help me focus more closely on which section of my world I'm homing in on for Summer Camp, I have implemented a Mini-Meta!



Foundation

This year, Summer Camp has arrived at a pivotal point of my real life in which I am unsure of what lies ahead. Nevertheless, I plan to enjoy this moment while I can, using the sudden, unexpected break from work I've been given to maximize my creative efforts and have a good time. I will say the foundation I'm standing upon now is Philippians 4:6-7:
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
I am going to try my best not to worry, beat myself up, or stress about anything. Instead, I'll simply have fun, explore worlds, and share my content with others. A more in-depth outline of my motivation and goals can be found at the top of this page.

Scene

The specific areas that I intend to focus on will surround the themes mentioned above. In short: secret geographical locations under W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.'s possession, mysterious leaders in the organization, hidden discoveries made by AND about the company, along with monstrous creations the agency is responsible for. The pattern is that all these subjects target W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. itself, as opposed to any adversaries or plain, boring, disconnected articles that have nothing to do with the main storyline (though, if completing a random article or moving over to Wynsumheord is necessary, I will settle without gettting too upset at myself about it).

Imagery

For images, I plan to do more art myself as I did last year, but instead of just the plain blueprints, I really want to get some things together that convey friendly yet eerie vibes. Like The Styrax, a lot of W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.'s secrets seem nice and happy on the outside, but there are several scary implications that throw you off and make you feel like something doesn't seem right.

Music

Lately, my brother has been letting me know about some songs that reminded him of Someone Elsewood when he heard them. It's neat how he detected themes from my character's personality in them! I've been listening to them and will continue to find more that put me in the mind of this Summer Camp's focus. I have several instrumental songs scattered around that are jazzy, offbeat, and techno. Here are a few below but I need to find and link even more of them. And, of course, there's the soundtrack I composed for Lifestyles of the Fish and Famous- A Virtual Escape Room RPG Experience

Literature

I have recently published Troubled Beginnings which is the origin story of Someone Elsewood. Though mysterious, this does not go deep into the lore of W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. at all. However, I think that I will begin publishing some exclusive stories and clips for my supporters that are centered around the inner workings of the organization. Stay tuned for that!

Gaming, Movies & TV

Lifestyles of the Fish and Famous- A Virtual Escape Room RPG Experience primarily addressed enemies and opposing parties of W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.. This time, I am working on a CYOA called Teambuilding- A One-Shot Interactive Story Experience INCOMPLETE about the insights of the organization, secret locations such as Bunker 421, and their uses.

Snacks

Getting pretty hot up here in the Northern Hemisphere. Should get cool treats like ice pops, cold drinks, refreshing fruit, and good ol' h2o.

Amenities

With the weather as it is, fans are a must. I may even go outside and write sometimes.

Hammer

Gonna need it to light up the frickin' forge and go worldbuild, of course.

Support

I will be hosting Summer Camp activities in my wonderful discord server full of lovelies. It's pretty small (much smaller than World Anvil's Discord) but it's a nice, tight-knit community of creatives. We're all doing the NaNoWriMo and WA camps and supporting each other.
I will also hang out with the Anvilite beans on Discord, Twitch, and the main site.
I may even run into some friendly folk as I stream...

Gameplan

Challenge Goal:

As always, I am aiming for Diamond, minimum wordcount on each article, though I may round up to 400-500 words per entry to guarantee my place despite CSS/bbcode. BUT, if I don't get there, I am not going to beat myself up. I am aiming to do my best and not overwhelm myself. :)

Strategy:

Though my primary plan is to continue my work in Secret Agent Someone's universe, just as last time, I have no problem hopping over to Wynsumheord for a moment and revisiting ye olde lovely bros if a prompt is just not working out here at all. :) Still, Wynsumheord will only be utilized as a last resort. I will try my best to make the prompt work for Someone first.

Schedule:

I am unsure if I will be working during the week or not once Summer Camp begins. If not, I'll count it a good thing that I am getting a bit of time to myself and freedom to focus on my creative efforts. Some of you may know already (without going into too much boring detail) there were some changes going on with my job... Too many workers, not enough work. They were as courteous as could be, I guess, for the short window provided, but they gave us a choice and I ultimately had to make a difficult decision. Long story short, please keep me in prayer as I transition. I'm trying to make the best of things and look at the optimistic side (as I always do) so I feel this (hopefully brief) downtime can be used to focus on myself, my creative efforts, getting some things done around the house, working on my online communities, AND accomplishing my Summer Camp goals. :) Prayerfully, this works out for the best and this next step in my career journey will be more conducive to my financial needs and my work/life balance anyway so that I can focus on my endeavors without feeling too busy or overwhelmed.

Streaming!

Gonna try a bit! I've officially joined the Anvilite Streamers Corps and have lots of fun things planned to stream on my channel; write-ins, readings, games, sneak peaks, secret reveals, giveaways, and even more surprizes! The goal is to go live every single weekday (I still work my cashier job on weekends to make a bit of cash. Boy, do I really need it now...) :)
